hey, im going to buy myself an e30 soon, im from Australia so there aint alot to chose from we only have;
318i
318is
320i
325i
325is
i just want to ask, what do you think of the 325i 4dr, in all the magz and on the net i seem so only see nice 2dr's, and mainly the 'is' models.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/johnono/7.jpg

the 'is' cost way to much for low km ones, im looking for somthing like this, i do like the look of the 2dr more then the 4dr, but for practicality sack im going for the 4dr, i can be changed tho.

i also wouldnt mind a manual version, but im still looking.
are these m20 engines anygood for modifying, i would also like to use it as a track car.
whats you opinions
Thanks

If there's one thing to insist on, it's a manual.
318iS, 325, 325iS all good. 318i, 320i, bad.

Yeah what he said :)

Couple of things:
I used to have a 4 door 325i and it was great, even used it on the track fine.
What are the nature of the tracks you'll be driving on? If they're tight and twisty you might want to try a 318is as they're a lot more chuckable than a 325
Cheers,
Robin

hey,
its between
318iS, 325i.
the 325iS is way to expensive, they only imported 200.
Sandown - length 3.1km
Image

Winton - length 3km
Image

Phillip Island - length 4.445km
Image

they are the main ones in my area, the next link is more detailed info on them http://www.nmd.com.au/racetracks_detail.cfm?id=6

so that rules out the 318iS, i will have to find a nice 2/4dr 325i with low'ish km's on the clock. are the main differances bettween the 325iS and the 325i just suspension, bodywork and ///M badges. do they have the same proformance. and where would i find a m-tech 2 front kit/rear/spoiler, BMW?, only iS was able to have it, so not meny do.

hmm the differences between the 325is and a normal 325i are the 325is has aluminium frontpanels and doors, it's a 2.7 engine, it has 5 lug wheels as for the 325i it has 4 lug wheels.

can't think of any more thing that are different maybe somebody else can?

I'm guessing by 325is you mean 325i sport, not the south african special 329iturbo mentions (which is actually called a 325is)

The main differences between a normal 325i and a 325i sport are the sport had sports gearbox with closer ratios 1st - 3rd, limited slip diff, mtech suspension, mtech bodykit/spoilers
Buy a 325i, put an LSD on it and sort the suspension and there wont be much in it.
Cheers,
Robin
