Hi all

Deep breath...

I have a E30 with a M50 conversion from a 525i

Got both the power steering pipes connected up between the rack (E36) and pump no probs, but there is another outlet on top of the power steering pump (remember the engine came out of a 525i with a power steering box, not a rack).

Have blanked this top outlet off, but it will not seal and is chucking fluid everywhere :(

Do I need a E36 325i pas pump? Does this have only 2 outlets?

Please help before I drown in power steering fluid :?

Cheers

Your engine must be from a 525i touring I assume due to the 3rd hose?
If so ive come across this on a couple of the conversions ive done.
Options are ideally change the pump to one from an E36 or E34(saloon).
Or you could screw a thread into the hole and weld it over to seal it up,sounds a bodge but does work :P

Eko

Thanks for the reply mate.
Why does a touring have a 3rd outlet on the pump?

I have wound a proper blanking plug in with ptfe tape on it and it is still p*ssing out, so welding may be the answer :D

I take it E36/E34 (non touring) pumps only have two outlets on the side and the one on the top is blanked off?

Its the last piece in the jigsaw on my car before it's MOT time, so i'm keen to get it sorted :D

Maxfield, Tigerseal omg, just remember it's only a bodge if it doesn't work

The 3rd outlet is for the rear suspension weight assist thing majig.
Essexboy had an M50 pump for sale the other day but not sure if it is 2 or 3 fitting.
Any saloon M50 pump will do but im sure the E36 one has a higher pressure?E34 one will be fine though.

It's an economical repair if it does work though :)

Have now fitted a E36 pump with two outlets. Works perfectly :D

I did try blanking off the 3rd outlet on the original e34 pump, but it doesn't work, no pas and the pump was doing it's pieces!
