Thanks everyone for their comments. The car should be out of the bodyshop next week, current plans for the car would be to make it as nice as possible and then drive it so it not going to be a garage queen. I am planning on installing the heated seat package, some suspension, and lighting upgrades. Thinking might put a glass moonroof: It was offered as a factory/dealer accessory but hard to find.

It's very common for officers of the law to take kick backs - the head sheriff in Orange County CA is going thru a BIG trial right now for just that!! I'm not saying in any way, that officer Dave took any kickbacks to acquire & build his M3, BUT he has made some horse trade barters that might as well be kick backs!!

AFAIK airbags where only fitted to the later "edition" models. At least that's what they're called over here.

LOL

, CactusJacks1 is a good friend of mine. He referring to the fact that there a couple of us out here that are obsessed with collecting e30s and hording parts. CactusJacks1 and I are both parts horders and e30 collectors, no real coppers here.. but I do like the way folks get freaked out on highways with the old cop car

I found this 1990 M3 at a local wrecker, he had just bought a collection of 10 or so M3s from a local horder.
I found this bit quite astonishing!!
Has he got any more??????????? Dream project right there.

I believe that they all have been sold or chopped up into little pieces by now. But here are some pics of the other ones he had during that time.
1988 M3 161,000 miles:
1988 M3 69.000 miles:
1989 M3 106,000 miles:
1989 M3 124,000 miles:
1989 M3 195,000 miles:
With my car, that would be 6 cars with suspension still intact. Then he had 2 or 3 diamond schwartz M3 ones that were missing various parts.
The price really depended on what the customer wanted, they would sell you the entire car or they would cut off parts and sell those.

WOW it's like scrap yard heaven. I don't want to know necessarily how much you paid for yours but what sort of ball park would we be talking for an M3 in this sort of condition? I can't imagine ever being in a position to buy a minter but I'd sure as hell like to create one!

The price quotes I got at that time were, 900 pounds for a complete body shell with no drivetrain or suspension. Rolling car car( complete) minus engine and trans about 2600 uk pounds. The wrecker really wanted to sell them off as little bits and pieces.

Err OK it's gonna be quite a while before my project M3 gets off the ground then lol.
