Hi guys ... can you tell me if the head is missing a mounting stud . There is a hole under the 3rd cylinder inlet side here .... and
And can you tell me what this is and where it goes ???
If there is a missing stud can I just put a bolt in and if so size of bolt to use ???
There should be a stud for that hole I think but cant remember 100%.
That rubber thing is a mount for the airbox. It fits into a little U shaped holder on the wing and then a thin bar from the bottom of the airbox then slides into the slot in the middle of it.
Cherrs guys ... especially Adam ... you know your stuff - helps when you've just done it yourself !! That rubber bit makes sense now !!
BUT big question .. if that stud is missing and looks like it is ..... if there is a thread in the head there will it be a reverse thread ?? and if not would siply putting a bolt in and torqueing it up be just as good ??
There should be a stud there which is exactly the same as all the other manifold studs. Here's a pic of my head before I put on the manifold.
Not sure if a normal bolt would do the job to be honest. Hopefully one of the other guys on here who work on engines will know!
What's wrong with putting a stud in?
Lock a couple of nuts together on the end of a new stud, and screw it in.
If you use a bolt it won't engage with as many turns of thread as a bolt, and may strip when you torque it.
Hopefully there is a thread in the head!
