Does anybody know the difference between the 318is lsd diff and the 325is apart from the obvious ratios ie is input/ output shafts a different size?
just installed 2.5 in my 320i goes off line quick enough but the left hand tire won't last too long :o

I have a 4.10 lsd large case.
Diffs are interchangable.

Why do you want a 4.10 diff?

They're quite common in the small (weaker) diff size - a 325 might have too much power for one of these?
If you're after a 4.10 LSD however - these are practically non-existant, good luck finding one - I've been looking since I bought my iS
Cheers,
Robin

Sorry didn't see your original reply Robin,
I've had my diff being reconditioned for months now and literally only got it back on Friday!

I had arranged to sell it as I don't see the 4.10 would be economically drivable with the 2.7, but I'm yet to find a 3.91 LSD that's worth buying, and the bill from the 4.10 recon wasn't small either
It wouldn't seem right to sell a diff that's pretty much brand new, at a great loss fanancially.

Oh yea, I wanna see what it accelerates like when the 2.7 is first finished

I have a 4.1LSD it was built from parts left over from a 2L Touring Car here in Australia (I think E36 318i), but still used my original housing. I think it cost about AUD$1000, although I got a bit of a discount. I think I have seen places that rebuild any ratio differential to an LSD for not too much, like about AUD$700?
