I have a 60mm front and 40 mm rear set up. I did once try 40/40mm and it was lower @ the rear!!! Really the front needs to be 20mm lower than the rear.

sounds like your rear tyres are catching mate, what rubber do you have on? if its not too big example 18" rims there should be absolutly no catching anywhere on a 30mm drop, depends on how wide your tyres are and offset though, and to the above question regarding does the front look higher than the rear, yes it does mate its perfectly normal, other people tend to drop their beemers around 30-35mm at the rear and go for a 60mm drop at the front, ill show you a picture of mine, ive just installed this spax kit and its a 60mm drop all around, click the link below dude and have a butchers

Thanks for the help fellas!! i had the rubbing/shuffling noise before lowering it. un sure on what to do about the rear springs may change the rear springs for the older springs and see.dont think it will be the wheels catching on the arches only got 17in alpina reps on!!

yeh the car does sit level but the front end still looks higher than it should do thats all, with the e30 having that low rear arch it makes you beleive its lower than it actually it where as at the front end you can drop it 40mm and still have a huge gaping 2" gap, the only way to kill that gap is to go lower or just lower the front end like a lot of people do, ive heard a lot of people on here drom their e30's by 40mm rear and 60mm front, looks just as effective as a 60mm drop all round but i like the way mine sits at the back end so in my opinion a 60mm drop all round is the best, like i said thats MY opinion but thats what a forum is all about and many people are entitled their's too, :closed:

i dont know then mate, the only thing i can say is you probably have shit hot springs like h&r or something along those lines, which are actually a better made spring altogether so therfore have actually been road tested and had many other tests peformed on them to make them a better fitted spring etc.... ive had 4 e30's now, the one i have at the moment is the lowest ive ever gone (60mm) all of the other e30's ive had were dropped 40mm all round and to be honest Simon i still had a big gap at the front end, even though the car sits perfectly level thats got nothing to do with that 2" horrible peice of blackness up front inbetween the arch'n'tyre

Check the front plastic inner wheel arch on the inside for signs of contact with the tyre's when on full lock for the rubbing sound.
Normally just above the air duct for the brakes.

Beware the Spax lowering kit, with 60mm drop at the front, on 318i's if you're going to do any track days. After a trackday at Cadwell this year we noticed we had started to shave the sump. I think the M40 four cylinder engine has slightly less ground clearance than the M20 six.
