I was having a look around the internet and found this site http://www.bimmerdiy.com/e30, on it I was reading the fuse layouts for the E30 and found that there is some differneces in mine.
In my fuse box I have noticed that
15 is supposed to be blank yet there is a 10amp in theplace.
16 is blank
18 is blank
21 Is supposed to have a 7.5 amp but thier is a 30amp in place.
My car is a 1990 318is
Can anyone help with this.
Thanks
Carrie

Welcome to the mad zone
I think that site is american. Not sure
the 30a may have been the only spare when the 7.5 blew.
The empty slots are for extra equipment.

You need a 7.5A in fuse 15 for the rear fog lights to work.
change the 30A fuse for a 7.5A fuse asap, you can potentially ruin your wiring if a fault occurs. The wiring will blow, but at least it will have saved the 30A fuse

Mark,
Would this make any difference, my car also does not have Relays K1 (Norm Speed), K6 (High Speed)
I have noticed a few electrical issues with the car recently as the driver fog light is not working, the OBC Backlight Blew, The Glovebox Light Blew, The Economy Gage is not working and the Speedo has stopped working, could they all be linked to something ??????
Cheers

15 is rear fog light - they don't have them in the US. Should be 7.5A
16 is for seat heaters. Not usually fitted in the UK
18 is for auxillary fan - for aircon only.
21 is for interior lights, boot light, torch, clock, radio memory, and OBC. Should be 7.5A. Get this one changed right away - while you've still got a car.
Fog light not working front or rear? Fronts are on sererate fuses (29 and 30, both 7.5A). Rears are on 15. If one works and the other doesn't it's most probably the bulb or its holder.
Economy gauge won't work without the speedo pulses from the diff. If you look under the rear of the car, you will see a plug fitted into the rear of the diff cover. Your problem is most likely that the wire going into this plug has broken inside its insulation. Gently pulling on the individualwires will show this up. It is caused by vibration making the copper brittle, and the cure is to replace the plug complete with a couple of feet of wire and splice it into the loom.
OBC backlights and glovebox lamps dob't last forever. May be just the bulbs. Be carefull when changing the glovebox bulb, as the holder has a habit of short circuiting when there is no bulb in it. This will kill fuse 4 (indicators).
If it is the OBC light that actually lights the display that has failed, then do a forum search for how to rebuild it, as you will get a nasty shock if you order one from the dealer.

you shouldn't have relays K1 or K6 (or fuse 3)
