dunno if a front one is worthwhle glenn... as i recently fitted hartge arbs... and i think my front one on medium setting is too much! the rear however would really benefit from it i reckon.. may be worth just welding 2 together????? as i know some1 who does this on his e28....glenn wrote:i haven't done a great deal lately, seem to be busy doing other things.
i've managed to mount the battery in the boot.
hidden all the wires and relays etc that were down in the passenger footwell.
fitted two small cone filters, i've yet to fabricate some surrounds for them to receive a cold air supply.
connected up the vacuum for the servo.
i've also been having a look at fitting ( after i come back off holidays) ,two
extra anti roll bars, two at the front and two at the back, should almost
eliminate body roll.

i wasn't going to fit two arb's of the same type karan,
the extra front will probably be off an e36, as i have e36 front legs they have the drop link mounted on the leg, so i could mount the arb forwards.
the rear will be easier, just have to find a suitable arb, then weld the mountings to the under-body and mountings to the trailing arms.
wont take long

Fancy swapping it for my 2.7 when you're done? :winkeye: By the time you've gone through for 10th set of tyres you'll be well pissed off
Top job mate, I can't wait to see this let loose! Fcuk knows how anxious you are!

yes jim i'm looking forward to abusing it, but i dont really mind if it's a fair while yet, as i love the build, it's a challenge.
trouble is, when its done i'll be looking for another project!

Innit the truth, when we finished my conversion I had Adam phoning me up wanting to do something cuz he was bored!glenn wrote:Jimbob wrote:Fancy swapping it for my 2.7 when you're done? :winkeye: By the time you've gone through for 10th set of tyres you'll be well pissed off

I don't necessarily mean drive the car..just to complete it for the sheer fact that there's probably only a handful of these conversions in the entire world...therefore you're gonna be known worldwide amongst BMW owners my friend!

You sure about that brake linkage, I've looked at the pictures for two nights running and it looks like you have two joints between the pedal assembly and the operatiing part of the servo, in the pictures it already looks like the linkage is making a sideways movement when you want a direct inline movement, a hard push would probably 'buckle' this linkage, however I like your conversion, it looks a good mod....if the middle joint was welded solid I would be sure happier.glenn wrote:widge, i had to put the battery there for now cos' the brain cant be disconnected from power for more than an hour cos' it loses its settings.
and then when you restart it, it over-fuels until its at running temp and the brain relearns its new settings![]()

karan, here's a few more pics, its the best i could do for now.
what i did as a linkage was, modified the plunger arm out of the servo with an eyelet off the link-bar that runs from rhd to lhd, and used the short link piece with the double eyelet to reach/connect.
sounds complicated but you might see better in the pics

emotechnic,
i'll have a better look when i get home,
but i think it only moves a fraction because its not a proper joint?
still, i'll check it next week

buster,
i just made a bracket out of mild steel, offered it into the right location so that it all felt ok, then welded the bracket to the bulkhead, but still being able to unbolt the servo off the bracket.
sometimes its 1 hour of fabrication and 6 hours of looking at it with fags and coffee.

just got back after two weeks away( nice to log on without it costing a fortune, at least i found somwhere to get my 'zone fix).
started the car, started straight away, i was hoping the battery wasn't flat as it would have lost all it's settings in the ecu.
good to hear that tuned nascar sounding v8. made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!
and now the neighbours now know i'm back home

When this joint is used in the standard format it's pulling and in you mod' it's pushing, just make sure it's not going to 'buckle' when you give it good push.

the first joint (the joint on the pedal) wont allow sideways movement,What you found with the brake linkage?
When this joint is used in the standard format it's pulling and in you mod' it's pushing, just make sure it's not going to 'buckle' when you give it good push.
the second joint wont allow vertical movement.
i think it's strong enough.
