Just a quick question..
I will be attempting to wire in a sub to my car tomorrow

and was just wondering where the best place to earth the sub too in the boot of an e30 was?
Or if there isnt a best place, just where / what people have used?
Thanks
Stu

i used the biggest ring terminal i could get my hands on but still had to chop a bit out so it would fit round the seatbelt anchor bolt

Thanks for the quick feedback, I was thinking about using a seatbelt anchor.
@dazleeds
Well, its not really earthing the sub, as much as the amp which is part of the sub (active sub package thing) sorry if thats whats got you confused. It needs an earth, and I guess its better than running 2 cables back to the battery

I could be wrong though! Its just what ive been told to do!
Thanks
Stu

im intrigued, a factory earth point would be marvelous, gonna be doing the ice install next week and a manly earth point would be very handy , if my iS has such a thing?!

I dont know of one, was having a look round the boot for one this evening. I thought maybe where the lights were earthed to, but couldnt find one for them.
Strut top bolt is a good idea though, I hadnt thought about that.

IMO the seatbelt point would be better as there's more metal to earth into

You are probably right, would just be nice to have the earth in the boot. I will have a look tomorrow morning when im attempting to install the sub

.
I will probably start a thread tomorrow about my complete budget, but (I think) quite nice little set up.

you should only need an extra 50cm of cable of route it into the passenger compartment for that, tho the rear battery earth would be much better and need less cable too, will have a look tomorrow
