Brave man...

Give that a read, even though it's for an MX5 it's still quite relevent, some good info on how to modify the TBs to fit on a car. Good luck

well m30 and m50 conversions arnt exactly uncommon droping in an m42 is boring, im currently doing my apprenticeship and want to learn more about how the engines work etc, im not just doing it to make the car faster if that makes sense.Jhonno wrote:I assume you are a fan of throwing money away then?

Modify anything you can get hold of cheaply by using anything else you can find if money is tight. Do literally everything you possibly can yourself and build something interesting by any means possible, doesn't have to be an ITBed M40, stroker M50, just whatever you can get your hands on

A M52B28 crank can go for between £150-£200
M54 one will prob be a bit more IMO

get some bike throttle bodies, megasquirt, a good 4 branch manifold, there is power in there!! or stick a turbo on it, if you do the work its not that expensive.

Bogg brothers will do a manifold and gasket for you for £250. You will need 4 bike tb's spaced and fitting using the silicone hosing. You will then need to either modify your loom or create a new tps. Maybe a little bigger on the injectors would help. Also you would need to figure a way of fitting trumpets to the throttle bodies, also filters and a way of shielding the heat. You will need megasquirt/omex/emerald anything like that. Good 4 branch as baptie said, bearing in mind you have a good engine with good compression at the moment...again as baptie said you do the work yourself you can pretty much easily do it for under 1k.
but....cant see the gain being as much as sticking a turbo onto it or supercharger....as to be fair with doing throttle bodies etc you may aswell go the whole way and do cams and headwork to really get the potential out of the set up....trust me on this! Done a 1.6 on tbs in a twingo and we got 113 whp, then i did cams, 40mm trumpets and am now seeing around 150whp....figures into speech, timed at 5 secs to 60, 1/4 miles was 14 secs dead...
but the only thing with going cams is you then coming into serious costs....
Turbo/supercharger will give you far more bang for your money, but it all depends on how much power you want and how much you want to spend at the end of the day.
iv never seen two turbo builds alike!
