Hi guys I think my cambelt has snapped on the sport,I am wandering if it if the cambelt and it has killed the engine would it be easy to put a high compresion engine in without needing to change much over, and would I be able to run the same ecu from the sport engine or would I have to change that and the engine loom too,any help would be great as I would love to get back on the road asap,

With a bit of luck it wont be the cam belt and hopefully it is just something easly like the rotor arm collapsing but I will find out once it is all stripped, damn these dark nights cant do nothing whilst it is light

Get underneath with a torch wouldn't take two minutes, if your worried about getting cold and or wet too try using a front door mat to lie on.

If your agoraphobic I can't help you.

High comp will go in with no issues,
to check to see if the cambelt is intact, passenger side of the car feel under the themrostat housing and feel behind the cambelt cover, there may be a rubber sheild thing but that just pulls off, then you will be able to feel the belt,
if the belt is tight your ok,if its slack its foiked!
it will take you 2 minutes

Depends if the high comp engine has a later type 173 ECU or the older 073 type, as the latter had an extra sensor by the flywheel.

If 173, then yes you should be able to simply swap it all over.

Lucky you though, having a 20,000 mile high compression engine 8)

excellent but I think it was the 073 as I remember getting a chip for it a while ago,is it easy enough to fit the sensor on the flywheel or is it a tw@t to do,
As for the low miles I was lucky to buy it from a write off a few years ago and still have the receipt for the engine when it was fitted to the guys car I think it was around 4 grand for it and the car had only done 4000 miles when he wrapped it up :D

Both Nelly and myself had the early high comp lump's in the touring's and both on the later 1.3 motronic, All easy and bolt on. Will be better and more efficiant than remapping the old set up, and still leaves room for a remap.
No problem (and better) in using the the early manifold and injector rail and tb either.
