What voltage should a headunit send to each speaker?
I've got a Sony CDX-S2050 and only one of the front speakers is working. I'm trying to determine if there's....
1) A fault in the headunit
2) A wiring problem
3) Knackered speaker.
I don't have any spare speakers or I would have tried one. I don't really want to strip both doors and swap the speakers on the off-chance.
TIA
Stuart.

u could try flipping th ewiring on the back of the HU try another output on the speaker causing the issue
Its uncommon for a speaker to completely die unless u have ben sending square audio signals to it then the termnals would melt but i doubt that is the case
more than likely a dogy wire r u suing the orginal E30 wiring ??

to test the speakers , use a 9 volt battery touchng each one wirew to the + and the other - you sholud hear a lould POP sound , if you dont then it's there 3 things it can be
1)break in the wire
2)lose wire behinde the speaker
3)speaker blowen
check that the balence and fader are in the middel on the system.
with the headunit on and playing , check the voltage on the speaker output , it sholud be no more 2- 3volts at full crack if its higher then that at low or normal then the output chip is gone, with cd system being so cheap its no point in repairing them.

How cool would that be?! I want an oscilloscope on my dashboard.
That'd be fairly unique as ICE goes.

I'd have all the normal dials and displays (speedo, rev counter, fuel gauge etc) as a heads-up-display projected onto the windscreen glass, then put a widescreen LCD TV in where the dials go. I'm ambitious.

I'll bear it in mind, though chances are it'll be on a Porsche 944. All the 944 owners I've met or spoken to (bar one, who is a member of the Zone) have been c0ckmunchers or arseh0les. I really like the way the car steers, but am not a fan of the typically Porsche interior. So I'd like to desecrate one with some childish gadgets and bizarre modifications. Glow in the dark paint, a big flag on the rear corner like you get on American go-karts or golfing greens, a big klaxon, and of course a completely custom interior.
