Hi,
I have just done the quick shift conversion ( in the tech articles) for about Ԛ£30 this week, and I'm so happy :D with it I just had to pass on the good news. It has taken up all the slack in the gear change as well as making the throw about half what it was before. Changing gear is just soo sweet! In the words of Ferris Buller "it is so choice, if you have the means I seriously suggest picking one up". I am especially happy as a quick shifter on ebay is about Ԛ£50 or more and this is BMW parts so you would never know. So cheers to E30Adam Lets have more of this commonsense engineering on the site, anyone put cruise in ther car? I've got all the kit don't know ehre to begin.

Glad you found it useful mate, if you don't plan on fitting a 6-brach, the E36 steering rack makes a world of difference!!

Is the rack much quicker? or is it just more refined?
And cruically is it difficult to do, I only have access to ramps or axle stands not a lift. And what difference will a manifold make? I'm not too bothered about the steering, but I do like the idea of a 6 branch they are a bit of mullah though aren't they.
Cheers

The E36 rack is 3.4 turns lock to lock rather than 4.0 turns of the E30. It doesn't sound much but the difference is night and day. We did my conversion up on axle stands no problems, I wouldn't say it's a hard job.

6 brach will make the engine breathe easier and should give a few more horses but some have shown losses, it's hard to say. I'd definately sacrifice small amount of extra power for precise steering though, a manifold won't leave you a lot of change from Ԛ£500ish

Cheers I think I'll read the rack article properly now. How much did yours cost to convert all told?
