Hello, I apologise if this sounds a little dumb, but is there a certain grade oil that I have to use for my gearbox. Its getting a little low.

I own a 91` 325i, and have been a little concerned that the gearbox is also a little bit keen to `kick down` when loaded up is this normal?

I`m not a quick driver and am becoming concerned that the old girl is trying too hard!

HI Sensi
Shell DONAX TA is what I used to fit in the box's in the dealer ship when I worked there, but any good ATF will work, you could find the box will hold/kick down more in cold weather to heat up the box and engine quicker, is it still like this after a good run/hot??

regards mike

Cheers mike, Seems to run ok generally in any weather, except the other day when it had 4 adults in it with kit.

Evertime we hit a hill, even if the revs were pretty high it would kick down quite randomly. I`ve not owned the car that long so I can`t really tell if this is normal or not!
