Getting a well earned bonus at the end of the month so decided it's time to get a good sound system in the convertible. At the moment, it's got a JVC CD player, Kicker 5.25" speakers in the front and some crappy speakers in the rear.
Basically got a budget of around £500-£600 to spend. Input on what sort of sub's, amp's and component speakers to get would be great. Don't want to go too overboard, just something that will sound alright.
I've been looking at Vibe and Audiobahn, any other decent brand's? Sub box will probably have to be custom made as convertible boots are awkardly shaped, plus i've got 2 electric motors so eats up even more space.
Thanks in advance
Imy

vibe are good , audiobahn just cheap crap (alway get complaints about sub's blowing) , the kicker's wont they fit in the rear? and get a desent set of components hertz are really good and cheap from £50 (caraudiosecurity.com) a nice 4 ch amp - kicker , jbl , kenwood , Directed Electronics , Infinity , will deal with the door spekers , and for a sub a 12" is the biggest you can fit with ease , and box will have to be a custom built or try an off the shelf angled box and powerful mono block amp and a 4 awg wiring kit and a distorbutor block. your looking at around £400 installed

Cheers for info Sati
My uncle has a Audiobahn set up in his E39 and sounds amazing so that's why i was thinking same set-up in mine. I'm thinking of going for Vibe set-up, aceraf on here had it installed in a Nissan Sunny and sounded foooking awesome, he did have 4 15" subs though
. I'm going to take my car down today to see a installer and see how much he quotes me, he did my uncle's and charged him about £650 i think.
If anyone has any audio for sale, please PM me

this box is going to be around the 40hz mark , is this wat you after? i like to tune my boxes lower to around 20hz -35hz , going of that you need a 4" port by 31.6inches which will cum in around 25hz mark , but this will have to around 7.4cuft. , but let me know the size's and the fq and i will run a few test and post pics up also are you running it at 750 watts rms? as this will effect the output readings.

ok cool mate , i was think of an salloon , you want the box to sit at the same height as the back seats? 16inch height? seems quite short as your baffle will be weak in the middel once the hole for the sub is cut out.

yep , then you know how good of a sub it really is ;) i got a really old 12" jbl sub only 125rms in a stupidly large ported box which i made out of off cuts of wood, lol , and its been abused hard! and i paid £30 for it about 3-4yrs ago , the sub cone is holding on with tape and gule and i runned it well over 125rms playing "Bass , I Love You" and still it dont want to give up! you can smell the coil burning up and hitting the magnet but still plays fine. i manged to blow a another old jbl sub a GT3-14" 300watts rmw , 2400watts peak , i runned it at 500rms for few hrs and it took the beating then once i played a few custom slowed tracks , it took up smoking! and it was dead. but still got it and it still works when it wants 2,lol, but dont go for FLI subs i ve blown 2 aready, lol

lol , alpine are good not the best , an orion hcca 15" will hammer the bass home for good and only £25 more then the type-R with power handling of 2000 Watts RMS / 4000 Watts Peak and with a Total Travel Of 4”a peak to peak it can move sum serious air and if you blow it you can just re cone them

box size: 3.75 cuft with the port size you said 4" wide 22" long the box will be tuned for 38.35hz , if you make the port lenth smaller by 3" it will play at 40hz and you will gain 0.10 cuft.
