Hello, I`ve been looking up various exhaust systems recently as mine is on the way out, and have recently been quoted from a longlife dealer in berlkey for a full made to fit stainless system for under £300.
This seemed quite a bit cheaper than i expected, can anyone vouch for these exhausts as I`ve seen pre-made exhausts for double this price.
I recently bought a 91`Touring 325i and have fallen in love with it!
Any recomendations other than the above?
Cheers!
Longlife exhaust systems....

felt so proud, even tried it with a E30 325i and got put in my place..
I spoke to them at the classic motor show, american chap.
Heard good things about them, better quality stainless than powerflow, but when I rang for a quote they gave me the exact same price as you, just under 300 but thats for a 318 is... Half the exhaust!
They recon you will see a bit more of everything, power, fuel economy, noise, plenty good reviews on their website but then I suppose there would be.
Its got a lifetime warrenty, like someone else has said if your car is lowered then im not sure if they will cover you in the same way, but I think im going to go with them anyway.

where abouts are you based, as it all depends on the dealer you go to...
I had one on my track clio sport, yes it lasted but i did have one of the welds on the first silencer crack, other then that they were and have been pretty good, around 5 cars in my family have had exhausts done by them,
just keep it tasteful (which is quite hard as they all want Jap Cans up there)
But with the warrenty, they will always try and wriggle out of it, so make sure your firm with them....
O and watch them do it too, as if theres anything your unhappy with, let them know!

Surely a lifetime warranty is such...as long as you keep the paperwork!
The car is not lowered... yet! Would this make that much difference as they supposedly route the pipework to suit the vehicle. There should'nt be too much of the pipe sticking out underneath should there?
I live just outside of Bath by the way.

Since I'm thinking about getting a new exhaust system/new back box, I asked for an on-line quote from the local dealers at Plymouth. The response via e-mail was almost instantaneous. The basic system is from the down-pipe, constructed in 304 grade stainless and includes a single, 2.5" roll-tip tail pipe. The cost for this fitted is £399.00 inc VAT. Twin exit tail pipes in a range of styles are available for an extra £50.00. The rear box section is £199.00. I'm quite tempted, because there are various sound options from quiet to 'full sport' and I like quiet exhausts - too many noisy chav-types around here with their dustbin-sized tail pipes that could and probably do waken the dead

Longlife are superb in my experience. I had a cat back system fitted to a mazda i used to own, superbly made and a nice subtle note. A noticeable improvement in peak power too with the 1/4 inch bore increase.
No rust appeared in the 2 years or so i had the car, but i know of a few people who have had them for many more years, and still no issues. They are mandrel bent too, and made from T304 ss (the best), unlike powerflow. I've seen rust on powerflow exhausts within 6 months.

I had a back box made for the 480 turbo and they did make one but.... The middle pipe ends near the rear axle and the back box pipe then goes over the axle into the box and out the box but they somehow welded the first part of the back box pipe to the SS box so they did not need to bend any funny shapes. My pipe rotted away in the end and left with a odd back box which no longer fits any 480 normal exhausts. £211 about 4 yrs ago.
felt cheated and this was done at the london shop by what looked like a couple of school boys. I should have checked it first and gone back but at the time I was getting divorced and did not worry about the box.
