It depends on a number of factors really but generally speaking and from experience Alpine is very good quality kit.
EDIT : - can you post up model numbers or point us in the direction of the thread for a better review

ive heard alpine are spot on, their headunits produce excellent sound quality
personally i would go comps in the front in some tweeter pods and some 6.5" in rear and run it all from a 4 channel amp
if you want some puncy bass add a 10" sub too
Mods: you might want to put this in ICE section

Would say that you can't really go wrong with decent Alpine gear - sounds like a bargain if the bits and bobs are in good nick. Defo put the better speakers in the kick panel if you can for best sound set up. You need a decent sub set up as well 'cos the bass has to get past the bulkhead behind the rear seats unlike in your average hatchback where there is only a parcel shelf in the way - can be like listening to a party in your neighbours house if it's not good enough! Make sure you use decent cable as well else you won't get the most out of your amp & speakers.

alpine headunits are good and speakers ,, sub's anit the best there over rated. 2 x12" or 1x 15" will kick the car apart nicly! , i had 2x 12" jbl w12gtis 700watts rms , 4000watts peak in a ported box tuned to 45hz you can shake door and windows at end of the road!. 5/6 ch are not good for running subs and comps off , as the sub will eat up all the power for the comp's which will make them sound crap. but for that price i go for it

i wolud have taken it my self and sold it on ebay make sum nice money. 6.5" comps in front kicks or doors , and sum mid-bass 6.5" in the rear shelf will sound nice , or make spacers and fit 6x9 on the rear with a amp and no need for a sub as the provide a fair amount. but if you want sumthing cheap and cheerful , go to maplins they got a deal on 6x9 and 4ch amp and 4" for £40 (amp good and 6x9 sound good, sell the 4 inch's and get 6.5" comps)

it will mate , just a custom box will be needed(prism shape) best to go with a single 12" in a cab (easyier to install).

Good point, no point in me looking for subs when i won't have enough space to fit the correct sized box.
I want to fill the space underneath where the roof folds down into. Its 11" by 25" and depth is about 20" i think

When you said prism shaped box, that is the picture that came into mind.
I have got electric roof motors though, so even less room than that.
I like that idea though, still got some boot space

ahh i see then the height will have to be cut down. by a few inchs. that said you might have to make the box have a flat front rather then angeled like in the pic. is a stealthbox out of the question?

sumthing like that?

Yeah at least a couple of inches, i'll post a pic up later when i get home. Hopefully will give you a better idea. I've thought about stealhbox but that's last on my list if everything else fails.

lol , or if you dont use ur spare wheel well , then turn that in to a sub box , which also can be a stealh box. do you have a ski hatch?- thinking of an you tube video in an e36.
only down side to that is the depth it's good for 8" & 10".

I don't use it but you never know when you might need it.
It doesn't have a ski hatch, the guy who is supposed to do my install asked me that, he did a E46 M3 cab recently and used the ski hatch to good effect.
The only other option is to fill the whole boot with subs and amps

Dimensions: 52.8cm (W) x 38.0cm (H) x 45.5cm (Bottom depth) x 32.0cm (Top depth) - Box is a wedge shape design with a slope on the rear.
around £79
takes most of the hard work out of building the box.
