hi, just noticed the slight bubbling paint on my alpine white roof has slightly come away and i can now see a touch of metal
its not the only place to have slight bubbling.
my question is, does anyone have a link to a thread that i cant find in search please or some info on this subject. many thanks

its rust, the paint doesn't actually start blowing bubbles.

And if its bubbling on the roof then the rust will be alot worse underneath!
If your car has a sun rooof, put it in the tilt possition and with a torch, peer into the roof where the sunroof panel slides into when fully open and look for rust all around in there. This is a very common but very offten unchecked rust area on E30's as there is NO rust protection from new. It is also a very expensive area to put right as welding in patches will distort the roof panel.
Removing the headlining for inspection of this area is also adviseable.

i got some sandpaper wet & dry (guy says start rough then work finer), white primer and clear lacquer from halfords. im getting paint from cotswold. i will take some pics tomorrow before i start.bss325i wrote:And if its bubbling on the roof then the rust will be alot worse underneath!

Sanding it back and painting it wont sort it and it will only come back again.
