Got a bit carried away the other evening ! after fitting a Z3 gear lever, decided i would relocate the electric window switches to the buttons above the radio gap. So after much deliberation i cut the wiring loom for the switches in half with the intention of shortening it and running it behind the dash (i think this is doubling back on itself as i can see more of the loom up behind the dash ?) Anyway after a temp reconnection to see if all was working my passenger door wont open and the drivers side is not locking probably. I am not bothered about the central locking anymore, so what are the essential wires to retain just to have the door lock work properly. Do i need to buy a haynes and fathom it out from their wiring drawings ?

Any help much appreciated
Cheers
Rick

I ripped out the whole loom for the windows and central locking the other day. There were a lot of wires!
I might be able to help because I still have the loom on my garage floor. How much do you want to keep?

for now only thing i want to retain is the electric windows. To get at the wiring did you remove the fuse box in the engine bay ?

No it all comes out from behind the glovebox on the plugs, I had the luxury of not having a dash in though which makes things a bit easier I imagine. I didn't look at it in much detail though so I probably can't help much.
