Guys and Gals,
I've been weighing up which alloys I want to buy and I've finally decided to get a hold of some Player Wire rims for my E30.. (the kind you get on lowrider cars in America)..
The ones I've seen (sorry don't have a link) are 80 spoke..
Anyways, has anyone put these American type wheels on their E30? Anyone have any issues?
Cheers!

Keg gt is sticking some on his e30 andhe has to do some archwork to make them fit iirc. Somebody else will probably be more use than me on this subject!

^ Cheers bud. Arch work I dont mind as I think I'm going to need some done anyways..but I could've sworn I read somewhere on the net (might be a zoner actually) that the player wire rims gave the person alot of headache..don't know what they meant though!

I think it only needs arch work though cos the size he's got is phat! I'm sure his car had wire wheels on it from the previous owner, but I'm not sure if any work was needed. I think that he's bought his phat wires from somewhere like blingrims.com

I am sure I read something similar to this way back when I joined, and they had to seel them as they would not clear the calipers, even with spacers. Maybe whoever that personb was had uprated brakes though!

kegs car when he bought it: http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... ht=#953491
no longer has them wheels and he has a better set waiting for his big brake kit to go on (co-insidently - spelling mistake i know!) and arch work.

Mate, iv got a set of 17" wire wheels on my tech1 convertible, im also from West London
Had them for over 5 years now, mite be selling as i think im due a change now
Mint condition, with adaptors, spigot rings, custom made spacers, longer wheel bolts, etc etc, everything to make them go on your car.
My car was featured in PBMW on the Nov07 issue, if you can get your hands on a copy...
Or do a seach on here, put kos in the search auther section, then go to photo gallery in the forum section & you should come accros a thread on the second page called ganster tech1 cabrio......
Let me know what you think, unless ofcourse your getting a set already, either way you wont regret, as they do turn serious heads....

My thoughts exactly, to me the centre cap spoils them.cliffybabe wrote:na they looked cool but not right for a E30

Might look good on a modern Jag.

The whole wheel spoils the wheel. I've seen better looking victims of failed parachutes.

I'd like centre-lock alloys, but wire wheels don't do anything for me on an E30.
Nice set of centrelock, split rim BBS, on the other hand.... ooooooh....

low_e30 thanks for the post mate
unfortunately, i know they are playa wire rims, but theyre not the ones im after! the ones im after have a deep dish; from an angle look like any other deep dish rim..really suit the e30
but from the side they are 80 spoke- i'll post pics up soon!

^^ lol!
actually i should see them in the flesh before i knock them; although the ones i sent u are f**kin stunning!
im noticing that the playa wires are only ever on mtech 1 kits..maybe its the more rounded shape of the mtech 2 which looks odd with these kinda rims..something else for me to consider!

agreed, but then the e30 cabs ive seen with these on look good..and i think it depends on colour..think neon blue (which is what i have) will pull it off..zaust wrote:The car is too new to sport these wheel's.
Need to be on a big bug eye merc type thing.
