C2 2.7 for sale
Moderator: martauto
The 1st car nearly got baoughgt from me and he been on sale for a long time. It lies in a not so plesant area of Swindon and I have spoken to the owner a few times and was put off espcally as he started knocking £100's off the asking price of the car.
A zoner also warned me the the inside would need replacing as it was knackered so add a cost of a retrim.
You should never ttry and compaired the Alpina to the M3 as the ethos of the cars are different. The Alpina was speed and Luxery where the M3 has a pure racing bloodline.
People value things very differently and f you have £8000 to spend then be choosey. There are plently of C2 2.7'a popping up for sale as they were made in fairly good number.
When I was about to get a C2 2.7 a zoner put up for a sale a C2 2.5 . I never heard of such a Alpina being made , I did some research I asked the Guru of Alpina aka Simon about it , I got the thumbs up and bought her, In the shor ttimne I had her she's been by far the greatest joy I ever owned and once she is looking all perfect in the spring I will be showing her off with extream pride
. If you are going to spend the money may I sugest keeping an eye out of somethign a little more quirky or unquie. I am to beliave less than 100 of the C2 2.5 ( getting readdiy to be correctted by god knows who in the usual mannor ) .

There wasn't many C2 2.7's made in the first place let alone many left 20 years later! There were approx 2-300 C2 2.7's made compared to well over 10000 E30 M3's in their different guises, a big difference i'm sure you'll agree!Felix79 wrote:People value things very differently and f you have £8000 to spend then be choosey. I can probably count on one hand how many C2 2.7's have come up for sale this year and most of them needing work!
There is always a handfull of E30 M3 up for sale at any one time.
this is now the 6th c2 2.7 i have seen for sale since september alone. obvouisly the zone triads demand more than your little finger ......
there the usual suspect dogs about on ebay ect but if you attend the right shows there are plentfull amounts of people selling off the rare cars.
There more to finding a car the ebay and autotrader seriously.

Felix you are way off the mark!
17,000 M3's rolled off the production. Sytners i'm led to believe built 160 C2 2.7's in all guises............
Buchloe built around 300, so you do the maths. The C2 sold well in this country.
Alpina's in the 1980's where hardcore tuners, really hard suspension and brutal power deliverys. It was in the 90's that they moved to the gentlemans express with auto boxes and lots of leather
The car in ebay is fine, it's a late C2 2.5 based on a 325i. Cam,chip, exhaust on a 2.5 lump was all that was needed for 190bhp, much cheaper than the 323i route like yours

Dont patronise me. I fully aware of other means of finding sought after cars for sale!Felix79 wrote:this is now the 6th c2 2.7 i have seen for sale since september alone. obvouisly the zone triads demand more than your little finger ......

Some of the C2 2.7's that have come up for sale have been up for sale more than once this year! Saying i could count them on one hand was a figure of speach ffs but the numbers are nowhere near the same amount of E30 M3's that are advertised throuhout the year.
The lachs silver tech1 based hillingdon car (Been up for sale for 2 years)
The diaond black tech2 based one in swindon (Been advertised twice)
The schwarts black facelift auto one on car and cassic. (Again been advertised twice)
The alpine white E reg facelift that Ant bought
The diamond black touring that simon13 bought
The brilliant red touring that was at Gaydon last year
I know of one other that the owner mentioned he might sell.
Not a lot i'm sure you'll agree!
you have been nothing more than a rude swine towards me for weeks so don't start calling the kettle black. my apologies to the other members for this outburst . ti him nk it is best icool offbss325i wrote:Dont patronise me. Why does everyone get so hot under the collar when we start talking about Alpina's?
Its seems the whole Sytner built Alpina thing is a bit of an unknown anyway with cars of varying specifications, with and without plaques. You never seem to know exactly what you are buying and even if its a "Genuine" (whatever that means as they were just breathed on to varying degrees by Sytner) or a badly thrown together pile of bits.

A lot of shit gets chatted about some of the rarer models... I think those who know get a little pissed off with it. Sadly ownership of one doesn't grant you be all and end all knowledgebarryj wrote:Why does everyone get so hot under the collar when we start talking about Alpina's?

exactly!
as long as your car makes you happy then does it really matter? i, for one, certainly have more pressing matters in life! (no disrespect to the combatants here, by the way) these cars are twenty years old fgs, of course there are going to be various modifications/options etc, factory fitted or not, genuine or not.

No but i'd just like to add when you've owned 2-3 of them and have relevant period literature, speak to those in the know, research into the cars to find out the truth. Then like said you get annoyed when people doubt what you say or post incorrect info.
Alpinas make me tick, i don my best to write 100% info on what i know. It's not arrogance we are just interested in them more than most

If you call being corrected rude then you clearly have issues. If your going to talk shite then be prepared for someone to come along and put you right.Felix79 wrote:you have been nothing more than a rude swine towards me for weeks so don't start calling the kettle black. my apologies to the other members for this outburst . ti him nk it is best icool off
I haven't once been rude, i've just corrected your inacuracies.
as long as the zone doesn't get like the "bmw car club"! i've always found people on the zone to be very friendly, knowledgeable and/or enthusiastic yet very "feet on the ground", it's good. hope it stays that way one and all!
Its all good and well when countless people PM asking for info but when you put someone straight on something you get called arrogant.adit wrote:as long as the zone doesn't get like the "bmw car club"! i've always found people on the zone to be very friendly, knowledgeable and/or enthusiastic yet very "feet on the ground", it's good. hope it stays that way one and all!
Its a kick in the bollocks if you ask me!
If you've done the research, have the info then want to share it with others it get my back up when people moan about it.

theres people on here who arent happy just giving their opinion or thoughts on a subject they then feel the need to become abusive and slate whilst trying to belittle others because they have different opinions as if somehow their thoughts are more important than everyone elses?
and you two are two of the worst for it so theres no need to come over all offended when someone has a go back. its all very well offering your knowledge on whatever subject but the manner in that its given can leave a lot to be desired.
saying that though simon does seem to have mellowed somewhat in recent months.

Shut up fuzzy, look at any of my posts and you'll see all i'll state is that facts about the subject, nothing more nothing less.fuzzy wrote:theres people on here who arent happy just giving their opinion or thoughts on a subject they then feel the need to become abusive and slate whilst trying to belittle others because they have different opinions as if somehow their thoughts are more important than everyone elses?

Right to get back on track....the Alpina plaque on my cab is on the dash above the glovebox, which you must agree is a little unusuall...but the swindon car has the plaque on the lid of the ASHTRAY?????

There is variations to the theme, some cars dont have dash plaques.Rodderz wrote:Right to get back on track....the Alpina plaque on my cab is on the dash above the glovebox, which you must agree is a little unusuall...but the swindon car has the plaque on the lid of the ASHTRAY?????

Rodderz, your car has early motorsport convertible leather which isn't original to the car so whoever fitted that interior probably put the dash plaque there.
i think the e36s usually have the plaque above the glovebox and some e30s i've seen have the plaque forward of the front ash tray, in the centre console pen/coin/sticky sweet area....BUT DON'T QUOTE ME!!
Isn't it more likely that someone has had a plaque made that previously was not their and then stuck it where they thought it should go (maybe after having seen the position in an E36)? I cant think of any good reason why anyone would simply move it and risk damaging it in the process.Simon13 wrote:Simple they've been moved thats all. They all start life infront of the ash tray
My money is on the plaque being added at a later date.
My car was owned for quite a long time by a guy called Dennis (withe the F reg black Tech2 c2 2.7 cab that you may have seen in the London area) He added the aircon a blue roof and the motorsport leather inc consol, but the plaque was on the dash before he bought it!
This car was for sale in January this year, it was advertised on the zone without pictures and the seller was shot down for one reason or another and didnt host any pictures. I continued speaking with him via PM and got some pics out of him but as soon as I realised it was accident damaged in earlier life I was put off. The car was for sale up north somewhere off the M6 so is changing hands quite often which is not good!Theo325 wrote:Just found this by chance whilst searching for something else:

Looks like it could potentially be a very good purchase.
Nice Alpina C2 2.7 - now rare as hell.
For those that want one - they'll pay the price.
C2's are special, no question. They will always be one of the most desirble E30's ever built. If your in a standard E30 or a sport and one pulls up next to you at the traffic lights or carpark, you will be very interested as an E30 enthusiast!
e30 M3 prices are extremely high now so no point comparing.
£7500 for something that's clean, genuine and this desirable - it's most certainly worth it to those who are interested.
People are still paying £5000 for a sport.
