Found these today in a tip !! they are twin su carbs and am pretty sure they are h4's and fairly old pre 60's

what i am unsure about is what car they are from they were fitted to all sorts of mgb and austins - even bentleys!!

so does anyone recognise what car they may be from from the manifold its a really nice split aluminium one pictures should be below-- thanks

Is there any numbers on a metal tab? You could call Burlin Fuel Systems and ask them, maybe even email them the pics? You will need to call directory enquiry's for thier number though.

Theres no manifold there - just the two carbs , crossover linkage and plenum from I would guess an early Riley or XPAG engined MG.
Proper old gear - probably early to mid '50s. The brass top caps on the dash pots were replaced by plastic on anything later than '60 ish IIRC.

Most definitely not Daimler, the inlet was in the centre of the 'V' with a single carb feed each bank.If you can identify the manifold they will be of value to someone.. :o

I would be guessing something like an MG, Riley, wolsley or similar.

Lots had Twin SU's. Intake looks more in keeping with a saloon model such as the MG Magnettes (sp) :D

yeh the old man thought it was a saloon as well - am hoping it some rare bit of period kit!

whilst looking on here i found an old post about forced injection through carbs , and i think the plenum looks perfect for that? idea or just ridiculous cost for old technology

They are still trading and are doing very well. Western Carb Services in Bristol always seemed to be busy, but they closed down a good few years ago now. These types of specialists are getting fewer and farther between now. We only use Burlen and Eurocarb now. Webcom are a shower of rubbish.

Yes, they look very much like MG Magnette or similar carbs to me. Try a google search for the tag number on the carb float chambers - usually something like AUD678, etc. Or post up the numbers on here - I have an old SU carb identification book which lists many of these.

saw a similar set go on ebay for £197 so was quite pleased with that

these are the closest pictures yet from a wolseley which i hadn't even heard of until this thread

Did you ever find out what they were from? If not, put the part numbers up on here - I have an old SU tuning book which lists all these...

Carbs were apparently fitted to the MGTD Mk II:
http://www.ttalk.info/TDMKII.htm

But those have a distinctive MG logo cast into their intake plenums, so it still leaves a mystery over your intake :?

Thanks alot speedtouch !!!

does the book say that they were solely fitted to the mgtd ?

will log on to a few specialist mg forums and see if they know more

found this online and it show the plenum is very similar to mine but like you say lacks the logo- was suprised to see what the mgtd looks like! is like a cartoon roller !

No problem. My book doesn't actually list these at all, surprisingly; earliest listing is for a 1949 Ford E93A.

The 1960 MG Magnette III has a pair of AUC961 - MG TDs aren't listed :(
