After a little research between me and another zoner it transpires that the H35/36 24v used both the M88 and later cars the S38 as found in the E34 M5.

This one has the S38

The M88B35 is normally 286bhp but Hartge tweaked it to 300bhp.

The S38B36 is normally 316bhp and Hartge tweaked it to 330bhp!

Total weapon and no wonder some owners have run out of tallent!

Yes, that engine is definately a S38. Any idea what Hartge "tweaked" to get 330bhp?

To hazard a guess i would say cams and some management work but here is a pic of the M88 on the back of the 88/89 Hargte catalouge and as you can clearly see, the throttles have been played with.

Wow I didn't think it will be a proper Hartge the rarest one at that. I feel honored to see it in person.

Very sad end to a serious chariot  I sold the previous lady owner the wheels a couple of years ago. As one of 6 and at first glance relatively unscathed mechanically , this needs rebuilding into another shell.

Maybe more? Very rare car, parts will definitely be worth quite a bit

It would be a fantastic project to put all the surviving bits onto a M3 shell and save what is left. Just wish I had the space or I would snap this up. Really interested in how much they want for it?

It can't be re-shelled using its current reg no and vin etc...
Worth putting the lot into another car though.
Looks like a bargain if the engine etc are still ok.

Have you bought it, then, Theo?

I have indeed. I couldn't resist, it's the pinnacle of all e30's and a piece of automotive history - 1 of 6 made as far as I know. It has some very interesting bits on it, including various bespoke parts.

Plan is to find a nice M3 shell and transfer the H36 parts into it.

Good buy Theo, that would have been perfect for me and a damn sight cheaper than buying everything individually but alas funds would not allow. Did they budge on price?

Looking forward to seeing a thread

p.s got that steering gibo can't remember if i replied or not :o:

I will do a build thread when I start work on the car, but that probably wont be for a while as I need to finish my sr20 project. I feel terribly sorry for the previous owner who stacked it, but having driven an s38 e30 before I appreciate that they can be a bit of a handful!

Ste - I came to a nice deal with them which I was happy with. Pleased to hear you got the guibo safely.

Something tragic to report, the original Hartge vin plate had been removed and destroyed

well, you couldn't have used it anyway, could you? I thought CatB meant that you couldn't re-use the same chassis, therefore not the same VIN. Just so you don't feel quite so bad about it ;)

Sell the SR20 project, you've had a nobler calling!

Well it would be nice to have the original VIN as part of the history and etc, not to use

I'm quite aware of that, but for some reason it saddens me that it had been destroyed purely from the perspective of how rare it was (I know it was only a 2 square inch alloy plate) but i'm very sad like that!
