Nothing major to report unfortunately, as usual went up to the farm to get a weekend on the car and ended up doing other stuff.
Moved the battery to the boot and fitted the wiring covers on the bulkhead, had to mod one so I could fit the 324td washer bottle.
Put the front valance back on and my newly painted grills (still not decided if I like the kidneys!)
Exhaust is on but blowing where the manifold meets the downpipes so needs to come off again and be sealed :-x
Need to sort something to hold the bottom of the radiator in place and can then fill/bleed to coolant system.
New pas pipes from earls turned up this morning apparently so can get them fitted next weekend.
Then it is the first proper start up and see if it moves!

Also had nothing to do over a couple of evenings last week so made this:

Looking good, maybe you could make a carbon cover for that lovely copper earthing strip!

Engine bay looks really tidy, did you use a standard e30 brake servo in the end?

Cheers:)
Yup kept the same servo as it all seemed to fit fine with decent clearance...
Earting strip will eventually dissapear, I will be extending the earth wires and run them underneath/behind the washer bottle to the proper earthing point instead of the damper top mount bolt...
When I get time all the plastic covers will be made from carbon, that will be a long time though as I want it on the road before I start to make things look pretty!

I earthed mine from the power steering pump nut to the body as there is the origional m20 point there.
lso i used the e34 washer bottle and that fitted right next to the airfilter with no problems either.HTH

My engine is earthed from the block to the earth point on the o/s chassis leg. The M20 used the same point but on the n/s leg. The bit I want to change is the earth in the loom, you can see the copper that is from the top mount to the extend the earth point, this is the bit I want to tidy once everything is up and running properly!

I was thinking of using an e34 washer bottle but this one was only £12 from the dealers and seemed to fit nicely! Plus if I decide I want more noise and add an induction kit I still have space to fabricate a heat reflecting board around it and seal the filter to the headlight!

not used as far as I can tell. the car seems to start and run ok without them connected to anything! But I have only run it for a maximum of 20 seconds so far as there is no coolant in it!

Yup very lucky with the workshop, only problem is it's something like 190 miles from where I live, otherwise I would have had it finished by now!

Yea enjoying every minute so far , in the dry, its a right handfull in the wet though, nearly lost it twice so far.
But depends on what diff you have, mines a open 3.46, as i haven,t got monies for a lsd.Maybe next year.
But i really have to take it easy with the throttle, as you'll find out, touch it and it bloody goes.Had lots of fun with the boy racers in the hatchbacks, it's like pulling away and there not even moving  winkeye .
The coolant is a bit of a bitch for airlocks, fill it up slowly.
Have you sorted out the electric fan yet??????, and have you run it through a relay???

The electric fan is mounted, not wired it up yet but got a 2 stage fan switch for it. Need to decide where to run relays/fuses to as I also have 2 for HIDS to mount somewhere as well as 2 for the fan!...

Got a 3.25 lsd in mine so hopefully will be fine! Building the car to go sideways everywhere so good to hear its got enough power!

I used the origional relay mount by the water resivoir, i think it housed the fuel relsy for the m20, with the black cover on it.
Mounted the fues and relay under there, but you'll need 2 relays for the 2 stage iirc.
3.25 lsd will be slightly slower than mine on takeoff but better for cruising on the motorway.

What exhaust you using???
What box???
What about mounting them in the bulkhead cover for the hids????

That was the aim with the 3.25, better cruising ability for now! Has a cam and chip so should be at least on the stock figures but we shall see, once I get megasquirt on it I am hoping for somewhere in the region of 240hp...

Exhaust is a stainless job bought with the engine from Theo, looks a decent bore and not massively loud apparently...
box is the 535 one and has an e28 clutch and flywheel so should spin up a little quicker!

Looked quickly at putting relays in the bulkhead cover, luckily it already has mountings for relays winkeye
HIDS will be that last thing to put on thought as I can't seem to stop the checklight coming on with them...

Also just remembered I need to add a wire to the c101 from the starter to get the blowers etc wirking with doors closed will have to look into which wires need attaching.

cheers chap! Out of interest how much did it stick out beyond the rear bumper when you had it? Its all got to come off again to seal the manifold to downpipe as in my blasting and painting its now blows :x

it might sound bad but at least it should push the old girl down the road at a fair lick! It's all down to each person though, was playing with a 430 scud on friday and a few of us thought it sounded terrible on idle and others thought it was awesome!

If that's the doll then yes, introduced myself actually so I could get a picture of her with a mate of mine on his camera.

And unfortunately disliking noise on idle was about the only thing I didn't enjoy! Just a shame it was wet!

On my facelift 325i the black and green wire from pin 15 on the c101 goes to the tiny spade terminal on the starter, I hope that helps!

been seriously lax with the updates on this!

Conversion is now running and have done about a thousand miles in it. Still overfuelling like crazy but can't seem to track down the cause!
Was fitting some suspension this weekend and whilst I was under the back end noticed the diff bush had come out...
Got a polybush for it instead and as I was feeling lazy got the local garage to change it today and do the tracking.
Got a call after lunch asking me to come and have a look at something :(

Rear diff cover has cracked in 3 places

Rubbish pics but only had my blackberry on me, first 2 show why the bush was falling out:
Image

And then another one opened up whilst they were taking the old bush out

At least its only the back plate I guess. Is it a slipper?

Ask one of the guys who breaks e30's on here whether they have one as main dealer will be fairly pricey, from memory its around £90.

Found a few more pictures:
The fan switch I bought was knackered but luckily found an 'in hose' one from another project I have:
Image

Was having a think about a radio as the didnt come with one, had a rifle through my old tat and found one, problem was it doesnt have an internal amplifier so needed amps, ended up with the following pile of bits which took 2 days to install, lovely braided cables through the car, very stealthy install in the boot for the amps and the sub in small enclosure moulded into the passenger footwell. (only an 8" one but as it was up front gave a loveley punch!)
Image
Image

Spent a couple of hours tweeking it and was gettting fairly happy with the sound but a few rattles meant it needed sound deadening. I also had loads of dynamat extreme left over from a previous project so took the drivers door card off to apply it.

Then sat back and thought - this car is for trackday and weekend fun, why the hell am I filling it with extra weight
So out it all came and in went the headunit from my discovery project with had an internal amp and found some old coaxials instead of the components.
Sounds just fine, keeps me entertained on the motorway! What a waste of time!

So onto the brakes. Got a WMS kit from Keri so that I could use the original BBS wheels:
Image

Thought I would post up a comparision on old front calipers, wms and some proper 4 pots, maybe if I go for bigger wheels we can get these fitted
Image

Unfortunately need 19" to fit these  :
Image

And finally came up with a benefit of working with 15 year old cars everyday with BMW engines, the remote diag systems we used to use will work on my car with the relevant software in it:
Image

Very useful for trying to find out the cause of my overfuelling!
