I reckon this probably has been asked many times so sorry, but the search function doesn't seem to work on my work computer... so...

Is this possible? a full tech one kit? One thing that concerns me is i have a four do car so the skirts (my favourite bit  ) probably wont fit at all will they?

But at least the bumpers?? how would you get them to fit?

Mark what bumper ends did you use in the end to get it flush with the arch line?
I read somewhere that the ones from a convertible were slightly longer?

Ok? I know the valance is is the bottom half of the bumper (where the fog lights and panels and air funnels for brakes etc). But is this a case of just take the valance off, put new one on or do i need some stuff from a chromie's bumper?
zaust wrote: (easy) Side skirt's easy.
...Sounds easy enough! Is this litterally just off with the SE skirts i have and on with the new?

Haven't done it yet :o: I'm lazy when it comes to the look's of the motor lol.. Face lift cab end's will do it though as used on neil's one.

G&S special aroud a score fore the two.

I'm looking at the rear light's too, Might not be as hard as it look's. But I need to sorce a good rear early panel and if I find a good shell then it's bye bye touring and hello proper tech 1 again....

Well the rear panel on the one in my sig is pretty much the only rusty part of my shell so it needs changing anyway.
As the car is off the road now anyway I might aswell have some fun with it.
Was thinking of welding a pre facelift back panel on but somehow matching it to the facelift lower valance so that the chrome bumper looks like it SHOULD be there.
All just an idea for now though :P

Yeah, the skirts are a direct change.
And the front should bolt up if you're changing bumpers as well. If you're looking to keep with plastics then I dunno if the valence is a direct fit.

The problem lies in the rear valence, because the facelift cars have different rear arches to the early models.
The facelift rear arch comes around much lower than the early model.
So in order to line the Tech I rear valence up with the facelift rear arch you must adjust the arch on the valence, and the ends of the bumper, unless you're keeping the plastics.

I'd be planning on keeping the plastic bumpers if possible.

No chance fella. Won't happen due to the way the tech 1 valance's mount to the bumper them self's.

Ah ok. So you can change to the entire chromie top front bumper ye? Skirts fine... And is the back one fine (with the chrome bumper) just you have to do a bit of adjustment to the rear bumper/valance to align it up with the rear wheel arch line...

Is that it...

Front. You have to put the early front valence on and the bumper mount's as they are different.

For the rear you need to cut most of the rear valance off ( as it comes down lower than a tech1 skirt and stops the bumper going on) and some of the floor each side and them weald up the gapping hole at the back. Then drill new holes for the bumer mount's to go to. And hey presto.

Btw looking at a face lift bumper. If you stripped it down, Drilled hole's and used the metal bumper rubbing strip it may fit on, but will look wrong at the back due to the back of a face lift being longer...

pic for ya fella.

Hmm so a bit of work. Fair enough tho. Will definately have a go. Love the tech 1 kit over the tech 2 so wanted to know how to fit it.

Looks like i'd just have to spend a while playing to get things to fit. Or ask a body shop, see if they can do a good job.

heres a link for doing the reverse of what you want but should give you a good idea of whats involved.

you will also need the convertable end caps for the rear bumper otherwise it will not reach the wheel arch as the preface lifts had different rear wheel arches with the exception of the convertables which ALL had the later type wheel arches.

Cheers mrLEE30. Dont really know exactly what i'm doing when it comes to this. I'll read through that when i have time tonite.

I just want to know how much work it is to do it. I just really like the side skirts TBH. What would go well with tech 1 sides skirts without the front and rear valance from the tech 1 kit? any ideas, opions? What would tech 2 bumbers and valances look like with those skirts? I cant seem to imagine it that well and dont know of any examples to look at.
