Hi all,
Bought a new sport with 60mm springs, trying to decide weather to keep them or swap them with 40mm's.
60mm looks the nuts, but speed bumps (taking the long way around) and rear camber causing increase in tyre wear.
40mm looks ok, flys of speed bumps and no tyre wear.
Please help!
(17" alpinas reps and the car off the road getting the 'pimp my ride' treatment)

Welcome to the Zone mate
You've kind of answered your question in your own post fella. It all boils down to the practicals v the cosmetics.
If you can live with avoiding speed humps and insides of your rear tyres being shagged early then keep the -60's

F*ck me that's low.......a J plate Sport's pretty rare too
How low is it? Or is it just the grass making it look like it's on the floor?

I think my car was on 60mm springs but they were pretty worn so it was actually lower than that still. I had to replace them pretty sharpish in the end and all I could get was 40mm.
Now the ride is much more comfortable but I dunno.... it feels like its lacking somewhat now. Doesn't look as good either.

Mine is lowered at least 60mm, maybe even around 70-80mm!
Its fine for speed bumps if you take them slowly and at an angle so that the exhaust or sump wont hit anything. Only problem is the the front wheels catch on the wings when turning full lock on an incline which makes for some interesting noises when pulling onto my driveway!

tbh mate-think 60mm drop looks the muttz nutz
however-in terms of zooming about-its too damn impractical-esp with speedbumps and the state of roads in this country
you also gotta remember that Hartge made some damn fine handling cars that were still a bit off the deck.
I'd probably drop it 40mm all round and tighten up the handling with stiffer springs and better front and rear Anti Roll Bars

Mines dropped 60mm and I rarely have any rubbing even when booting it except like you say on an incline on full lock.

Mine is 60mm front and 40mm rear. I tried some 40mm fronts and it was too high for me. With the 17" wheels and removal of center section of exhaust I get no problems over speed bumps.

Living with 60mm on my 325i Cab was a nightmare for me when i bought mine as the prev owner wanted it like that, looks good but very impractical, kept clipping the rear bumper if i went more than 5mph over bumps, my skirts have slight damage underneath. I bought 25mm springs and got them fitted and its much much better and stangely enough it still looks good, more importantly can take it over humps with ease now. Comfort is better too.

What springs are they? (was that for the sport?)
technical bit:
...sport is lower 20mm from standard...so...45mm...lower from standard...
Good idea!

-20mm yes on a car with m-tech,but adding 25mm springs will drop the car 5 mm get me? cos it's already dropped 20mm on m-tech stuff

a set of billies on the back and you dont get much squatting hence on rubbing even with a 70-80 mm drop,
