E30 M3 BLACK RECARO INTERIOR
Moderator: martauto
Did a search. These are the seats "Ive" seen in E30 M3s. Various colour combos but these are the 3 basic seats.

SportEvo seats

Standard Leather for M3

Half Leather (Cecotto/Ravaglia/Evo 2 IIRC)

Early stlye Fabric. Ive seen these retrimmed to leather but not convinced they were factory with the vertical stripes.

Normal Fabric.
HOWEVER
it gets more complicated when you look at 5 series seats.
Never even seen these before, but I wonder if the seats you;re selling are from a non M3 as standard and then retrofitted into a 3.
SHAKEELE30
I dunnon if you missed it but do your seats have 3 release levers between them? 1 on Drivers (NSF) and 2 on Passenger (OSF)

Genuine BMW M3 leather sport seats all had horizontal stiching without piping. Non M3 seats had vertical stitching and piping. Likewise M3 headrests had no piping whereas standard E30's with leather did.
The sport seat in cloth (houndstooth fabric in the above pics) were the same in both standard and M3 E30's.

from the first post, doesnt mean give your opinions, means price? What are these worth?
Whose got good reading skills now, champ

Ok, Oguz paid £350 for his which are identical to these including the M3 rear seat. Only difference being that his weren't bent.
Given that he bought his on ebay, it would be fair to say that what he paid is the market value. Consequently it would not be unreasonable to value your's at below this price.

The leather on Shakeels seats look more BMW than ford...
Sierra cosworth leather was always more 'crinkled' around the lower & upper bolsters, as the the Picture that Rich put up of the Cossie leather shows...
Also Sierra cosworth leather was always perforated on the centres of the base & back, Shakeels set show no signs of this..... ofcoarse, this could well be down to a retrim.
The givaway is going to be the levers & controls on Shakeels set... looking at the picture that he has put up,& noting the the lever on the front of the seat on the left hand side of the picture, you can just about see a lever that is used to move the seat foreward & back, I have the same/similar lever on my convertible leather, so could well be BMW switchgear....

I only "guessed" on the cossie angle. They reminded me of the ones fitted to a friends Saff 4x4 years ago. However, you made me look at the picture again. And i think Ive come to a conclusionLow_E30 wrote:The leather on Shakeels seats look more BMW than ford...

These seats were (probably) NEVER fitted as standard to any BMW. IMHO they are probably another manufacturer Recaros fitted to BMW sub frames.

Where the RED arrows are. That look like a movement forward/backward lever. In addition to the normal T shape BMW handle GREEN arrow
If they were fitted to a LHD BMW there will also be levers to move the backrest (to gain access to the rear) at the 3 points where the BLUE arrows are.
Yes i think we may be getting there, they could well be the combination of BMW & some other manufacturer...
Just to add something else to the fire..... could there not be a slight chance that they may be BMW highback recaroes, as found in very early E30's & E21's, that have since been retrimmed in black leather, & had the Motorsport badges sown on for good measure?..........

These ARE BMW seats. Look at the zone banner and you will see the same seat fitted to an alpina b3.
The handle which the red arrow points to moves the knee roll out. The green arrow points and the lever which allows the seat to slide on it's runners.
here are a few pics of the same seat but in cloth, these were from an alpina c1 2.3:

Those are the highback seats that were found on early E30's & early E21's that i refered to....

Well if they are often refered to as highbacks, thats good enough for me....
Cant recollect ever seeing them in a late E30, but if you say so.
Going back to the point in hand, what are they worth ?... Surely worth more than normal sport leathers, i would have thought.... as im sure they are rarer.

Just to end this now....
DanThe has some in his car that he just broke up and in facelift trim so from a later car.
Ant has some again in facelft trim and were in his old red 325iSE from new.
I had a set in my D reg 325i
I have another set in my S50 2dr.
They WERE an option on E30 throughout production and i have seen them in M3's but only in cloth
Two ways of identifing if they are E30 ones is the Recaro sticker which says E30 on it and the plastic covers on the tilt mechs have BMW molded into them.
6 series ones are slightly differnt and have thiner side bolsters and more horizontal stiching on the centres.
Use the serach button to see for your self.

Oz's ones are different, to my ones, if you look carefully, but im not here to argue or make comparison or put his seats down or anything.
just to end this and make some of you happy, these seats are bent/retrimmed/not original bmw ones, come from another car, and are worth less.
dont care anymore say what you like, as all i wanted was a rough price of what these are worth, but as usual zoners have nothing better to do than cus or put down other people goods, which they dont have or cant afford, quite simply jealousy.

Post a pic of the labels stuck to the underside
The inner bolsters are splayed, its usually the outers that splay out, its possible the backs have been swapped over? LHD lever issues?
Just a bit more info - there are two styles of upper bolsters, the type in this thread and the others are more pointed (like ant's)
These are very E30 specific, the lower bolsters at least are not shared with any other Recaro seat (that ive hunted out on the internet) I would love somebody to correct me and point me towards new foam
Most of the mechanical parts are still available from the dealers but nothing else, no fabric, no foam
There is a German eBay user who has racks and racks of period Recaro seat frames, cant remember the username though

Well I can always say when I'm wrong.
I was wrong. The seats SHAKEELE30 is selling were an option for the E30 (and E21) range. They were called "Recaro Sport Seat" in non-M3 and BMW Sport Seat in M3. Seem to be mainly availiable in Europe than with the UK "official" cars.

"Recaro Sport Seat"

In fabric too.

Those black leather ones are the same as Oz's ones.
Theo has just bought that M3 based Hartge H36 24V with the roof chopped off and that has E30 black leather recaros to.

And original BMW leather doorcards, though the drivers one may need a bit of shoe polish to bring it back !
