quick question for the guys in the know.
Does a S50 manifold fit any other M50 engine??
I have a manifold from a RHD S50 and may replace it with a LHD S50 manifold and was wondering if I can sell the RHD S50 manifold.
TIA

I believe Johno is currently using his BTB S50 manifold on the M50 until his S50 is ready. So all should be OK

Is it a standard S50 manifold?
They do fit but it can be a little hit and miss.. With a standard manifold on an m50 it can foul on the block/gearbox i believe
they bolt up, but in an e30 they need work to fit (as with all 24v conversions) in an e36 you need to relieve the actual lump/gearbox of some webbing iirc

I believe the LHD & RHD S50 manifolds are the same. Everyone got the manifold capable of fitting on a RHD car. It saved them developing two different manifolds.
Cheers,
Ian.

S50´s in the US use the M50 manifold and can achieve more then 270hp quite easy with it..
so if your not going to be getting more power then that, I wouldn´t bother.

I'm about to fit a slightly modified S50 manifold to my M50, so it'd better bloody fit lol

s50 wont go straight on, the front one fits on no problem but the rear requires adjustment to clear the o/s rear wishbone bush, i just cut it, moved it a bit round and welded back on. i then lowered the anti roll bar using alloy spacers and lengthening the mounts about 10mm. last thing to do is mod the steering coupling, to do this i got another e30 coupling and cut and shut the two bottom parts to the correct length. sleeved them then welded together. after the manifold i used the 525i system adjusted to fit the manifold, cut off the cats and had two pipes to the back box. the car went very well, maybe a wee bit loud.

had a dig around and Ian is right. But what I have is a ZM roadster manifold and the REAR 3 cylinders are a different part number.ian332isport wrote:Uwe,UweM3 wrote:I have a manifold from a RHD S50 and may replace it with a LHD S50 manifold

Interesting...UweM3 wrote:had a dig around and Ian is right. But what I have is a ZM roadster manifold and the REAR 3 cylinders are a different part number.
I've checked the part numbers, and the LHD ZM Roadster uses the same rear manifold as the E36 M3 Evo, but the RHD ZM Roadster uses a different one.
Any chance you can post a picture of it ?
Cheers,
Ian.

I had a ZM manifold and from inspection at Ste's (he had hundreds of M3 ones at the time) they looked nigh on identical..
My ZM ones were sent to BTB for modification and came back looking like everyone elses. I can't imagine they were that different. I'd noticed they were different part numbers at the time and hoped they'd drop straight into an E30.
