Hi there Zoners,

Just quick 1, apologies if this is in the wrong section,

1. What wipers are recommended or the best 1's to get?

2. How much would i expect to pay for them?

&

3. Best place to get them from Halfords or EBay?

Now as for the Wiper MOTOR itself, I don’t think it works properly.

I have tried 2 relays from my friend’s cars which work for them fine but for me no help at all. When I click up once speed 1 it wipes fully up and when coming back down it decides to stop in the middle of the screen. Also when I click down it wipes up and again stops half way back on its journey down lol

Full speed/2 clicks up works fine as it should. Also

All help is much appreciated

Many thanks

Jazz

With the blades, the best ones are the Bosch jobs, they're about 8 or 9 quid each but are good and last a long time.
The cheaper ones last a month or two and are wrecked, wipe badly and screech.
My R5's always get the cheapy ones but the Touring gets decent ones.

With the motor,it sounds like its knacked internally, they can be rebuilt, but, you can a second hand good one for about 20 quid, much easier to do this IMO.

Local motor factors should have them.

Not all cheap wipers are equal though, i wouldn't hesitate to use Trupart wipers, I tried them because i could get them for £1 a piece and they lasted a year 8O They are the only trupart product i would use though, everything else is good enough to get a car through a mot and thats it.

Edit

Saying all that i am using some Ebay flat style wiper blades at the moment, theyre ok and do the job but they tend to miss some parts going up and others coming back down :? They've been on the car 7 months and are still good, and were on my old Escrote mk6 before that for a few months (where strangely they didn't miss anything either way)

The local factors are getting trupart flat blades in although they are more like £7 each, i will be trying them when these ware out.

I wouldn't buy the Ebay ones, you have to ask yourself why they are selling them a 9.95 for a pair, they are about that price each in Hellfords.
Chances are they are rubbish/dodgy ones.
I would go to the local motor factor and get some.

Talking of cheap wipers,do you remember those special 5 bladed jobs that came out a few years back, supposed to be the best blade EVER,funny how you can get them foa a quid a pair at boot sales and such place now............they be rubbish!

Not tried Trupart though winkeye

as for your wiping issue..

remove the wiper motor from the car, unclip the black plastic cap off the underside and clear all the old horrible crappy gunge out of there, lift all the contacts up a touch and smear a load of nice new fresh grease on the big circular metal bit of the motor and replace in the car. easy, cheap and effective.
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

Flat wipers don't seem to flex enough for our quite curved screens edges so I'd not recommend them to anyone after my experiments. although to my ear they are much quieter at Mway speed than double spoiler conventional wipers.

GSF and Eurocarparts do wipers blades as do autobulbs.co.uk...any of these guys are cheaper than Halfords.

Today my wipers decide to stop working. They were working until I parked on a slope NS down. I did the usual computer style trick of turn it off and back on and that worked for a few seconds then only maximum speed would work. I went over some speed bumps and then it all started to work fine. It had been pissing it down and I had driven down tarmac bedded streams so perhaps this is just a case of water getting in somewhere type of issue. but did make wonder why it did not just completely stop working...is this a cunning BMW fail safe.

About 3 years ago i took the contact disc apart and re-lubed which made the intermittent wiper work again properly and it has never stuttered since so i imagine that it is something else.

cheers for any suggestions

More harm comes from the numpty's who would rather driver at you than drive through a puddle :x
As you say, drive slowly it'll be fine, hell I can get my R5 through 2 foot flood waters at the bottom of the hill where I live, and you get these tools in their "Sports Utility" cars who are terrified of a little puddle :x :x

Back on topic......... how's the wiper fix going Jazz?
