I have a 1993 318 Lux convertible.
All of a sudden the central locking has stopped working, when I lock the car with the key it doesnt seem to have enough power to put the door pin all the way down and hence only half locks the door!
Theer is a kind of buzzing sound coming from inside the door when I try to activate the central locking, like a electrical sort of noise.
Just wondered if there are any common problems or things to look for??

Ther is probably water in or around the central locking relay, located behind you kick panel speaker. But also could be corrosion on the door plug. There is a mod to be done first before changing your relay.Do a serch on RED/BLACK with mr moooore as the author.Do this first as this is a very common problem.Mine didn't work for over 3 yrs until i did the mod, and hey presto, working like a dream.
If no luck i'll talk you through it or if mr moooore turns up, he'll help you out no probs.

It's very common for a buzzing sound to occur when the red/black wire modification needs doing!
Note that it's slightly different with a cab, as the wiring in the area is slightly different, for reasons only known to the original designers!
You will end up with three cut red/black wires, instead of two, which all need to be connected together.
