its whether the engine is oversquare or undersquare that makes the biggest difference with how it revs and produces power..

so if a 2.7 is still oversquare it will still therefore rev well..

what is the bore/stroke of the 2.5/2.7?

I have experienced this, for me its like the difference between a 320i and a 325i. I feel like the 320i is smoother and revs better.

Edit: I have driven Karans Car.
Ahh, didn't realise it was you

As for Karan's engine having lighter components, not sure where that came from. Karan's engine is the same as any other 2.7 using ETA crank and rods. The only slight unknown is the pistons. Les never did tell me what he uses, but I'm pretty sure there's nothing particularly light about them.

Ian.
i spoke to les a while back and yep nothing is lightened and uses karl scmidt pistons. This is prob gonna cause controversy but ive been in 2 alpina c2s and they rev very cleanly but did not seem to have as much RAW power, the engines are a lot more civilised. Mine revs even better now with the new manifold and believe it or not is noticeably quicker too, i will gtech it later this week and post the times for the 1/4 to see if there is any difference. I'd say it revs just as well as a stock 2.5. HOwever once uve experienced power you always crave more..... The way i look at it...its rapid for a 16year old car and the engine is sweet for 80k miles. Do it properly and u'll be showing boxsters who's boss
