my thinking would be that the rears would be ok. My only concern would be the fronts. get me dude

Yeh,the fronts might be a bit dodgy mate.Could always get the arches flared/rolled for a few hundred quid, then they sit in there puka

Sounds like an interesting challenge with the wheels. What i am curious about is how Jhonno has 18 wheel bolts... HOW on earth have you managed that... 5 studs on the rear? and if so... what on earth is your diff and or suspension from?!??

Its because he up until recently had 5 stud on the front, and 4 on the rear (or the other way round), i think!

thats what ud think but the front needs more clearance cos of the steering,,,,, with the rear its easy to judge as u can see where the wheel goes in and out

alot depends on offset too mate, its ot to be perfect. i think you should be ok with them on the rear and you may need little archwork. cos your gonna have m3setup its quite hard to say really.

Can you get any decent tyres in 215? I was looking for something in that width for my car but I couldn't find either high performance or semi-race tyres in that width, only 205 or 225.

EDIT: I just remembered I had 225/50/16 tyres on the rear of my 323i on 16" wheels that had ET 22 stamped (in the metal) on them. They fitted ok if that is any help.

My view (from Adam's 9" on the back with 225/45 I think) is that the back will rub with 1 person in the back if you were to run 215/45 but should clear with just yourself and 1 passenger. The front's when moving will clear but will foul the arches when anywhere near full lock.

Yeah, I was probably looking at the wrong profile for performance tyres like that. I have 205/50/16 now and there are enough high performance tyres for that size, I have Toyo semi-race type tyres at the moment.

the wheels are all 8.5x17 with an et15 offset.
rears are fine (just)
fronts are out too much,
i think fronts need to be around 8" wide with about et30 ish offset

does ure m3 stuff have stock m3 springs? or is it lower?

215 40 will go on then..... they are cheap as chips neway..pretty much as cheap as 15s LOL
i'll get all arches rolled too and flard if required.. im sure they can go as some euro folk are running 17by10 loweredon the rear with 8.5 up front!

yes karan,
the tyres are 225/45x17
and i've checked the rims and they're et13.
i decided on 17's cos the tyres are easier and cheaper to get hold of.
and i think i'll be getting through a fair few tyres

as jhonno says the tyres are probably streched a little,
but there's bags of room there to put wider tyres on the rears

Mine has AC Schnitzer springs/dampers

If you look tho - that would rub if the suspension was compressed enough..

215/40's should be ok tho, esp with standard m3 stuff... you will prolly need the offset front bushes tho as i've found out (parking is embarrassing with only 1/2 lock  )

mine has offset bushesa already....suspension is all nice and new all standard though so BOGE stuff i think m3 springs

so i guess 215 40 on front and 225 45 rears then? i guess that would roll nicely on stock ride height... this car isnt gonna be slammed neway..its no road racer like the GUG-that isnt the plan

how much does it cost to roll arches then?
