Found hanging inside my door... the li'l button closes the central locking, but my central locking works fine anyway! Something to do with the magnetic immobiliser thingy? Or the deadlock?

Cheers

Its the switch for the deadlocks.
The hole in the plate is where the lock barrel should be, so it should be positioned up against the door skin.

Aha!

I've got a plate like that in my boot - been wondering what it was for months!

Cheers!

Thought it'd be something like that! Cheers :D

So how will it actually change the operation of my locks then? I quite like how they work at the mo; if it's deadlocked then you can still unlock all the doors with any of the locks, but if you try and open the drivers door before un-deadlocking it, it locks all of them again!

the drivers door locks mechanicaly via the door lock, once you turn the key 45 degrees and remove the key it physically blocks the lock from being opened from inside the car,the other doors are deadlocked electrically via the microswitch you have pictured, the deadlocks are closed by the drivers lock pressing and holding down the deadlock microswitch and opening when it is released, you should not be able to open any door from inside when the drivers door lock is in the horizontal position.

hope this clears things up a little,if not its cause ive been at the buds again and for this i apologise
