I've had a few switchable autos too (not sports) but they were all facelift and all 3.73

LSD or open diff those are how the ratios have been on all the 325i's i've owned, I've always checked as only the sports (bar 1 I let go for £1600 about 5yrs ago - they were from Cardiff!) have still had the LSD's when I've moved them on :D
Just checked in that book Everett wrote and according to that...

"For 325i, 3.64 and 3.73 on metal bumper cars including sport LSD, later sport uses 3.91 ratio LSD, Tourings and 325ix use 3.91 standard diff. 3.74 on 325ix auto. 3.64 used on standard plastic bumper 325i 2wd manual."
:?
Well the bit about the iX is certainly rubbish mate, I've owned two of them and still have the others running gear which is 3.64 ratio and my touring was an auto which has 3.64 diffs on it :D
Never come across a facelift 325i with a 3.64 personally but it is a good book I have it too....
Well i guess as the saying goes, dont believe everthing you read lol!

Well my facelift 4dr auto optionmiester had a 3.64 LSD from the factory in it.

My facelift alpina 2dr manual had a 3.64 LSD from the factory also!

So whats going on there? I've only ever had 64's and 91's, but all my 325's have been facelifters

all 3 tourings i've had/got came with 3.91's

I guess its each to there own on the Tech 1 or Tech 2 debate! They both have there good and bad points, Tech 1 rust badly in the rear arches, Tech 2's have petrol tanks made from tin foil, etc, etc, but for me the best of any breed is often the first: Clio 172, Escort RS Turbo, Golf GTI....... The list goes on and on.

The first is often designed to be the best it will be, before the accountants and marketers jump in, trim a few quid off production costs and up volume production.

Maybe we should have a vote?
