Hi guys have my exhaust down as far as the 3-1 collectors and have my pipe work for making the rest of the exhaust but im wondering what the x pipe on some of the systems ive seen is for any help or info would be great

i understand the reason for the x pipe is to balance the potential differences between the two manifolds. for smooth equal flow.

Do most of yous that have done the s50 conversion have the x section in there exhaust anyone know how much difference it makes to hp and torque any help on this would be great

Well irish 320i,

Most lads have used the BTB manifold and x pipe, the s50 develops most of it's power from the way it breath's, if your manifold is not 100% flowing as the original s50 manifold your power output will drop down as low as 250bhp and torque will also be heavily effected therefore i have gone with full BTB system.

The BTB manifold and cross pipe although expensive is flow tested and designed on cad to ensure flow characteristics are maintained,

You can go without the cross pipe but it would be better to have it.
