hellow, have'nt been on here long, about time i posted my track car thread, iv coped this from another forum

well my polo is sold. so here is the new beast....

i will be turning her into a semi road/track car, got lots planned such as, SD rollcage, sparco evo buckets/4points, Bilstein B12's, ireland engineering mouts, powerflex eccentric's, M3 cab X brace, light weight 15" rims some stick track tyres etc etc

iv got a brands hatch track day on the 1rd of dec, so that gives me time to get some of the chassis sorted ;)

a nice package arrived for me this morning:)
Image
Image
:P

standard left, and Bilstien B12 right ! as you can see they are inverted
Image
i have also elongated the strut top holes so i can run a bit of negative camber, its only going to be minimal but it will do for now till i get some camber plates

i also took some proper pics today (after the Bilstien kit) she is lower, but needs to settle

im contemplating compomotive Mo's ?? always had a soft spot for them
Image

got her breathing a little better, Alldub Tuning custom Intake fabricated, mandrel bent flowed 2.5" tubing with SFS silocone houses.. sounds awesome, pukka job, and deffiently feels more responsive! A+ ;)

p.s here is my old car which is now SOLD
94 VW mk3 polo GT, bought back in 2006 when i was 15, she was a total state coverd in dents and all standard, lots and lots of hard work, but the labour of love payed off.... love doing that project, great lerning curve aswel...

Image

got lots of hard rubbery stuff coming from mr powerflex aswel

more work on her today, the car beeing the same age as me, i thought the underbody could use some attention... so, preasure washed the undercarriage, and waxolyed/undersealed the arches, also steam cleaned the bay.

Good on you for doing this, I'd love to have the time to do the same to mine!

Have you used copper grease getting the new bushes in?? I thought that was a big no no and have always been told a 50/50 mix of water & fairy liquid is the best option as it gives enough lubrication to get the things in but then dries up to leave them firmly in place...

^ sounds like a plan to me. I love the look of 15" bbs on your car (which looks alot like mine :P ) and having two sets of wheels means you can get some proper slick tyres on the go on one set without fannying about changing all the tyres over!

I'm not totally sure here but it looks like your control arm bushes may be fitted wrong. They are supposed to move the control arm as far over to the outside of the car as possible therefore pushing the wheel foward and increasing the caster.
If I can't fix it I'll f**k it up so bad nobody can!!

they are fitted correctly, it has pushed the arm out slightly and therfore increase's camber which it has done substainly... car feels bloody awesome come twisties. can keep up with me mates E36 M3 round the bends with ease!

right moving on, my mate is a pro audio guy (pm me if you need anything done), so i got him out today, to do me an alarm system - pukka... so at least i will still have the car by the time it is finished lol a white bmw is crying out to be stolen.

also trail fitted the SD rollcage today, fits Perfect, (took about 10 mins to get it in) it is not bolted in yet, because i am going to be re-routing some of the wires and looming them up and making it look alot more neater, also going to respray some of the bare metal that is on show as it is scratched in places.

Looks good so far 8)

Get the sound proofing off the rear seats and any other that is lurking around. I reckon there is 20+ kilos of sound deadening in an e30.

not stripping the car totally, as iv got to drive this 1000 miles germany and back next year !! its still going to be comfortable but with the strength and capability of a track car.

if l lived in Adenaue (15 mins from the Ring) belive me this car would be totally gutted by now...

thanks

But the fact there is no seat/rear door cards/carpet will mean you get all the noise but not with the additional benefit of removing the sound proofing for weight saving purposes

Great work on the car and it's good to see somebody taking the time to do all the photos and posts.

the cage is bolted, seats/door cards are in. all tidy'ed up.
Image
the powerflex diff bush finally turned up, so we fitted that today.

buckets/harnesses are next!

p.s next week i will b doing a Major service, i.e oil/oil filter, plugs, leads, petrol filters, new rocker cover gasket, TB gasket, all other broken gaskets, cleaning the ISV, etc etc.

also got the car on the 4 wheel aligment done, running -1.3 degrees of negative on the front, all is straight and true.

later on im going to be getting the IE rear camber and caster kit.

lookin into some eibach arb's, dont really need a bigger arb but do want it to be a bit stiffer and a little bit less roll without upseting the characteristics of the car i.e to much understeer/oversteer etc

i know that the eibachs are alot smaller than the H&R's.

What size tyres are you running on the BBS' at the moment? They look like a lower profile than 55's.

205/50/15's, avons on the back which are brilliant, and yokis on the front which are rubbish when cold/wet (only good when its hot and sticky)

I'd go for 3.91 or 4.10 (pricey) in an iS unless you're not worried about losing acceleration? Project looks great.
