That's just scrap. A Scottish car so it'll be completely rotten everywhere. Nasty interior - only the engine and box are worth having. Corroded fake wheels, tatty grey leather - it's worth £800 if the engine and box are okay but not much more.

Thats worth breaking I'd say. Some council type will love the rims and at a mere 140k, the engine and box would sell well. On top of that you have the body kit, exhaust, Diff, Even the interior would go with a bit of work. etc etc etc.

If it was closer i've be fragging the fooker

No, that's pretty accurate in my experience. The further south you go, the better the car, in very general terms

You don't often see E34s needing welded.

Having lived in Scotland all my days i think i'm in a better position to comment on the likes of this than your good self. Granted you do the usual rusty shitter, but you get as much down your way, its all down to how the car was treated. Plus staying in Aberdeen, right beside the sea...

EVERY car I've had from Scotland has been a rotten heap. Every car I've seen from Scotland has been a rusty heap, the further North, the worse they are. I've seen a Scottish 3.8 M5 on an L plate that needed the rear subframe removing to have the sills replaced - everything on that car was heavily rusted. Sills, arches, everything. Ask Pacerpete how bad it was. Same with the 1994 730i V8 I had from neil - the car was like the Titanic underneath, never seen anything like it.

But if yours bucks the trend, good for you!

Everybody in the 'trade' knows that scotch cars are to be avoided like the plague. It is a FACT that they are more affected by rust than southern cars. Obviously there are exceptions to any rule but i have never had to replace brake pipes on 6 year old e36s or weld up 10 year old hanging E34s except scotch ones

The 3.6 isn't any better than the 3.0 or the 3.2 really, well, its not worth the effort of messing about with the loom etc.

Forgot to add..........we just broke up a Scottish Alpina E36 Coupe. Supplied new by John Clark Aberdeen (K36GSF I think) and it was easily the most ratfucked E36 I have ever seen. Completely rotten - even the front crossmember had a hole! You should see the diff........it's like something from National Geographic! All around the rear axle mounts was just falling to bits.

Southern 1993 E36'sd aren't rust free but they're nothing like this thing.

Indeed - the four matching BF Goodrich covers are still on BlauTurdos. About the only part of that car that wasn't rusty! That was actually a really lovely car to drive once the screen was replaced. I was amazed at how good on fuel it was on a run. I did a few miles in it and flogged it to a bloke from Essex. It sounded superb with the shagged catalysts cut open and gutted.

Im looking forward to Andyboy gets his feets to Scandinavia and he can take a look on our Beemers here... a 20 year old E30 with 20 heavy winters doesnt look nice tbh....

I used to have an E28 525i (on a 1983 Y plate) supplied by John Clark in Aberdeen...

Wasn't terminally rusty, but it had come south around it's 50K birthday!

Eit: think it was CSA 89Y

I too have lived in Scotland all my life, so please don't be so presumptious and condescending.

I probably buy and sell a dozen "classic" BMWs a year, and have done for a few years now, so I like to think - maybe wrongly - that I'm in a reasonable "position to comment on the likes of this."

I buy far more cars down South than I do locally. Now, why would I travel 3 or 400 miles for a car if there was just as good available locally?

I also said "in very general terms".

How many E34s have you seen fail the MoT on rust? very few IME.

I hate to point out the obvious, but assuming the car is wearing it's original number plate, 'TA' is not a Scottish number plate. So the car may not have spent all it's life there.

Trivial point, I know, but I just thought I'd throw my tuppence worth in.

RTA is a Devon/Exeter number. It depends on how long it's been up there. The 730i V8 I had from Neil was first registered in London (EYW) but it was as rusty as an old horseshoe.

cant disagree with the southerners here. most of the cars up here are rusty as fuck. ive never seen so much rust on an mot'd car as i had on that jag i just sold. you might find a few gems like georges cars but thats the exception not the rule. both cars i own right now are english, inlcuding the e30 which is from brighton.

i went to see an r-plate e36 touring last weekend, nice car apart from the rotten tailgate and the bottom of the doors looking like a set of morris marina doors.

bet you wont find many like that down in engerland.

ps, if anyone really really wants this m5 i can have a look if you want. dont make me drive 40 miles for the hell of it but ill have a look if you are genuinely wanting to buy it.
