Just seen a picture of a 318iS manifold.

None of the primary pipes are of equal length, collectors are bad news, no X section in the exhaust either.

Certainly alot of improvement to be had with these.

Might speak to BTB about this if enough iS owners are interested.

Again,

I need more interest from iS owners.

Most of my efforts have been concentrated on M20 engined cars but I would love to be able to get some proper tuning parts for cars like the iS which deserve this sort of attention as they are a brilliant car to start with.

You should think before you decide to call people's comments stupid.

In thought moderators werent meant to go around offending people like this. Obvioulsy youve been given some god given rights.

Maybe the zone should consider removing you from the admin team if you continue like this.

Anyways guys,

Will speak to BTB and a few other Manifold manufacturers to see if we can improve on the design....if not then atleast I tried.

I dont think its going to cost mega bucks to produce one and it will get very cheap if we can get a group buy together for upto about 5 iS owners.

ppl generally buy iS's cpos they cant afford 6 pots.... as having been in the position myself!!

i somehow doubt they would spend the money on a manifold..

the first port of call is always suspension and brakes!!

mine was prob the most modded iS out there back in the day with all the above done, however apart from demlot there arent many of these out there where the nxt step would be a fannymould of u see what i mean.....

and u have to get to this stage before u think about changing what is already a very good design anyway to be honest

also having sen both the e36 and e30 manifolds in real life... the e30 one is better and loads better than a log manifold... i dont think the need is there for a better one unless u have cams and throttle bodies and maybe a stroker engine... i realll looked into this and this is the conclusion i came to last year

also the stock manifold easily flows up to 250hp plus as demlot was telling me of a european company tuning 318iS's up to 300hp on stroker m42s...

damn i want an iS again!!!

Fair enough, I wont look into any further.

Still don't understand how any of my comments are "stupid" though.

I know the IS manifold is already a good design, but i dont know that much, so if a better one is possible then id be prepared to listen.

Cheers for the idea anyway sal mate

its pretty complex stuff... and u cant simply look at a manifold design and say its bad, but Sal admitted this earlier up neway.. cos port shape and direction, firing order, etc etc.... all determine pulses in the engine

those who read PPC will have read an article on pulse tuning which is what all inlet and exhaust manifold design is based on. One take on it is the intake resonance flap in s38 engines...
then theres inlet tract length and optimum position fir injectors, lengths of trumpets

also recently foundout why sock filters on trumpets are so crap from an engine builder... a lot of flow from trumpets comes from around the edge of the face not just directly in front...socks resrtict this.. and this dude had found 40bhp losses on one engine giving 220hp....

from what these pros have said i can oinly come to the conclusion that u aint gonna get 'make' an engine give awesome power on pulse tuning, but u can 'break it' with crap pulse tuning.... eg log manifold!

generally from one well made manifold to the next u will see little difference but a manifold wchih is made with no thought at all will make little difference over log, as the old manifold on my 2.7 showed

just my take on it all....some pro is prob gonna tell me this is all wrong now LOL
