e36 316i , belt or chain ?

hey all , as title really , will a 1994 e36 316i have cam belt or cam chain ?

316 with an m40 engine is belt driven but 316 with an m43 is chain driven only early ones had m40s but i dont know when they changed to m43

They changed 1994 L plate. If it has a visible brown distributor cap on the front of the head, it's an M40 with a belt AND three rollers to change.
If it has a black coil pack bolted to the driver's side strut top with leads going to the plugs, it's a chain.
