Interior Light Delay Relay

I've just bought an interior light delay relay and have carried out the instructions as per below upto the "Push the brown/yellow onto the pin switch, and join the two brown/purples together" part.

Apologies for being a numpty, but which wires do I have to cut/splice for the OE unit. Are these the wires for the socket which the relay plugs into? Just thought I'd check before I commence butchering of my car!

To make the E30 socket ready for a delay relay, you have to find the brown/purple behind the driver's speaker, which goes from the interior lights to the pin switch (-ve side of courtesy light) and remove it from the pin switch.
Taped up to the loom nearby, you will find a brown/yellow wire with a female spade connector and a brown/purple wire with a male spade connector.
Push the brown/yellow onto the pin switch, and join the two brown/purples together.
If using the OE BMW unit without the door switch, you have to cut the brown/green wire a couple of inches from the socket and splice it to the brown/yellow wire.

Yes. You cut the brown/green wire and join the plug end to the brown/yellow.

This mod is because you don't have the switch on the driver's exterior door handle.

I have this relay on the same plate as the Central Locking relay and was going to fit it - isn't it just plug and play?

I have the loom already there for it.

So the socket that's there is ready to receive the relay but not wired correctly for said relay?

Hi guys, i hope somebody can help. I've searched through all the previous posts on this but my problem is a bit unique.

Smithy recently very kindly emailed me the instructions for fitting the interior light delay relay and I've just bought the relay and started to fit it and stumbled across a few probs....

1. Just to further clarify the above comments, i cut the brown/green wire going to the relay and join the end coming from the socket which the relay fits into? to the brown yellow. The brown yellow stays connected to the door switch. i.e. i just join onto this wire without cutting it? Just want to make sure i join the correct end of the brown / green

2. An aftermarket alarm has previously been fitted to the car and makes use of the existing brown / purple wire from the door switch and i also piggy backed this connection to fit a lights on alarm. When i swap the brown / purple wire for the brown / yellow, do i need to move the alarm and lights on connections onto the brown / yellow for them to still work?

Would really appreciate some help with this, got the car in bits and dying to get this working. cheers

The brown/green is cut and the end that goes to the relay is spliced into the brown/yellow, so that the brown/yellow from the pin switch goes to both pins of the relay.
The alarm/lights on wires must remain connected to the pin switch.
