i have to agree with pete.
if you go down the 'ls' route, i'm booking a co-pilot seat for sure!
i've thought about a ls swap for some time now karan, think of the torque, think of the sound.
the tuning potential is massive

I'm leaning towards the 2jz - purely for the anchor factor.

its less of an anchor than the jz believe it or not...

going to look into the packaging of the LS units now.

if i went LS it would stay N/A for sure....LS7 with the 6spd box is gonna be more than double the cost of the 2jz with a brand new gt35r

the 2JZ is a monumental piece of kit and obviously there is no shortage of tuning options and suppliers.

Leave the rice alone you haters

Having said that, nowt beats a V8

What I meant is, go for the jz on account of it being an anchor. Every car needs a boat anchor as you well know.

Our friends over the water are making upto 580rwhp on a cammed LS7, with matched heads and exhaust they have seen 625+

6 pot 3ltr turbo sounds nice but I know which one I would prefer to fit if it were me.

the previous "m" series would of course be the 7M as found in the MK3 supra, that engine traces it's way back to the 60's and the beautiful 2000GT

K, your car needs an V8! like they say the sounds and the driver to match it! It would immense and even better than the S38 which to be fair is a hard act to follow.

You know from the silvia that good N/A lumps are much better when it comes to taking horrendous amounts of abuse!

Now i'm excited 8)

Your gonna need your crane back too soon?

gonna save up and get the LS7 i reckon....it's bigger so must be better
just gonna have to wait longer to get it running as will have to save for the headers and exhaust

Si, if ure around my way would be great if you could drop the crane off.... if not ill just pick it up some point

There have to be some off the shelf headers from america that can be used. I seem to remember on the american e30tech forum someone mixing and matching two designs from the same manufacturer to fit an LS1. His was LHD so I guess you'd want to use the 'opposite' to his setup.

Go for the V8 man.. It's absolutely awesome. You've done the turbo route with the S14, now go for BIG displacement and torque.

I recon with the money you got for the sale of the S38, you could get an LS1 running on megasquirt in there.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

dont want an ls1.....if i go ls it will be ls7

only thing is i can get more power from the JZ a lot cheaper!!! and lets face it 500-600 which is my aim will be much easier to get with the JZ.

An LS1 can be boosted to over 550bhp on stock internals, so I'd imagine an LS7 could take an equal amount of boost yielding even more power?

An LS7 is a beautiful thing. NOT cheap though (over here). I'd imagine in America it'd only cost comparibly to our M power swaps over here. Yank bastads. At least it'd come with a great gerbox if from a 'vette too. Don't know about the sump configurations though. Go for it!

If you are going to spend out on headers will you really want to ditch them and turbo it? How about superchargers? Ym yum.

LS1,2,6 are all great engines to boost and much cheaper than the LS7 to. also the LS7 cant take much boost at all stock!

for a budget minded build i go for a forged LS1 either stock cubes or stroked to 383 stock ported heads (truck heads are a little better if you can find a cheap set) stock minifold and throttle, decent fuel system, probalby a emerald or similar ECU (prob easier to find someone to tune that than the stock PCM here in the UK) and a pair of 66mm turbos.

66mm units have been used on stock cube vettes and made LOTS of power (over 1000bhp) and still spooled pretty well. they would spool even faster on a 383. you could go for 61mm units to (same as the GT35rs).

Alternativly how about a Kenne Bell Supercharged LS1?? that would look VERY different. and with the right bottom end you can have 800lbsft from just off idle (mild camed 402 ls2 with the 2.8 KB)......:)

Just some ideas

Chris.

ls7 is a dry sumped beauty  so i dont think that will be an issue

waiting on price then will decide, may be a tad rich though
