Hi folks
My 335 has a stiff clutch pedal and all the movement seems to be very high, ie. clutch fully disengaged with only slight movement of the pedal. Thers no slip and the clutch plate has plenty of material on it.
Am I right in thinking there are different bore diameters of both master and slave cylinder across the BMW range? My master cylinder is from a 5 series but my slave is 318 m40.
Clutch is from e28 and its a dogleg box.
Any help is appreciated

Yes there are diff diameters, I think the norm is for a 7 series as a upgrade.

The 318 M40 clutch slave cylinder is listed as also being used on the E28 M535's so combined with the 5 series master it should work as it's designed to. How old are the master/slave? just wondering if with time they wear or become less efficient!! Could it be worth trying new parts with fresh fluid?? My clutch feels very similiar to what you have described...

Thanks for the replies chaps, Its not really an issue for me but the misses is only tiny so the pedal could be an issue in traffic.
Also if you push the pedal to the floor you get a nasty noise as if the clutch release bearing is being push further than it should.
I'm going to check part numbers and see exactly what I've got, its a dogleg box if that makes any difference.
cheers

Just using standard 325 stuff car was a 316 carb so had to sort out vented front and rear disc conversion. Thats the first thing I did back in 2005

I have owned other e30s hence the name johnl320.

Mine needs the exhaust mounting, rear springs -40 and a little tidy on the bodywork on one side. But no electric in the garage and cold nights mean it'll sit there until spring, In fact no scratch that i'm off to Iraq in the spring for 6 months so hopefully on the road by early 2010. No hurry I'm building a motorbike as well.

Is that the military off road spec bikes you are building John? If so, put up a post about those, i'm sure a few would be interested. I'm sure i'll see you before you depart, but if not, stay safe! Despite being one of the slowest m30 conversions, I am confident it is one of the best.
