What i want to know is what gear box is a shorter ratio for the m20b20 as im thinking of changing the flywheel and cluth for better ones like the 4.5 kg one and A hevey duty clutch,so was thought might as well replace the gearbox for a better one, was also thinking of a chip but unsure what one to go for,

im sure the 320i g/box is close ratio anyway!
if you want quicker acceleration change the diff,or a b25
i used a mild chip from speedtouch and it worked well

Seems like a lot of work compared to just dropping in a B25?
Not in E30s any more :(

Yer or we could have a 6page argument again over not changing my engine!

any way i have a 3.91 diff from a 2.5, whats the diffrence between the wild And mild chip? Also is it possible to ask to have a slightly highier rev limeter? When ordering a chip. Plus weres the best place to get a chip, i know the zone does them but are they any good?

If Ant's zone chips weren't any good, there'd be plenty of posts on here saying so!

Whatever anyone claims, there are only limited gains to be had from fitting a chip. All a chip can do is exploit the compromises built into the original map to allow the car to operate over a much wider range of fuel quality, temperatures, air pressure, etc., than we are ever likely to want to. It's more about 'drivability' than outright power gains.
Well worth fitting, but don't expect (or believe) miracles.
The only way to get seriously more power from an engine is to increase the airflow through it, and a chip can't do that!

With the exception of 1st, the ratios in the 320i 'box are virtually identical to the ratios in the Sport 'box.
IIRC, most "wild" chips take the rev-limit to approx. 7k rpm. Convert to LPG and you won't have any rev-limit!

In that case you want a re-map, not a chip.

i see, so were is a good/recommended company to remap and what price am i looking at for a standard remap with a 7.5k rev limit, so basicly a remap is a tune of the chip thats in the ecu already? so i wouldnt benifet from buying a chip and then having the ecu remapped or does that defet the fact of buying the chip?

Dude, you really need to have a word with Ant at A-Tech. He's not far from you. Click here
A re-map isn't cheap - we're talking hundreds, plus the engine needs to be spot-on first.

Mate you seriously need to drop a 2.5 into it and forget about chipping the 2.0 and the flywheel etc...
Either way a heavy duty clutch really isn't required.
It'll be cheaper and give you a better end result sticking the 2.5 in there.
Engine conversions, Auto to manual conversions, parts, servicing etc etc... For anything e30 call 07718 901737

ok im talking a 2.5 engine as i know its pointless messing with a b20, so what can be done to the b25 engine once i have that fitted, not sure what things can be done to imporove responce and drivbility, im sure chucking in a light fly wheel while im there cant hurt can it?? or would a 7k rev limit self distruct on a 4.5 kg fly wheel?

the flywheel is just a standard flywheel that has been machiened down to the ring gear so it removes a good few kg's of it. m50 injectors just give a better spray patterns so fuel burns better so i was told.

yes they are the ones

cool cool, how much did you pay for that on the fly wheel, you know there doing ones on group buy thats a one piece billet steel with the teeth are part of the flywheel

yer i think ive read that some were but ive never bothered as more fuel needs more air which can be had unless its forced
