Gearbox Gasket Query

Is it as simple as up end it so selector is at the top unbolt and lift or will bits fly out as i do it? has anyone opened one up? anything to watch out for? Any help on this please.

If you do take it apart, PLEASE take some piccies inside!

From the looks of it, all the springy bits of the selector mechanism are housed in the rear casing, but then there must be something which extends forward into the rest of the gearbos to move the bits about and select gears.

As you can probably tell, I don't really have a clue!

Have you cleaned it up and made sure it's not the output shaft seal spraying oil all over the place ?
It just seems a bit strange to me that there's oil all over the top of the gearchange linkage as well.
Bently's and the old Haynes book explain how to open them.
I think there precision machined and don't have a gasket.

Maybe i wont pull it apart then :lol: I will give it a clean up to double check and take it from there. I will keep you imformed, i might try and get a standard box to experiment with. :wink:
