E32 pollen filter.........HELP

Could anybody tell me how and where to change the pollen filter and can it just be left out?. The airflow through the vents is low and was told the pollen filter is probably blocked.

I think this is the same as the e34. It's behind the centre console and access is though a removable carpet panel but the drivers left lower leg. Make sureyou get the split one which slides along the centre. This is due to the fact the sterring column gets in the way.
