Hi Mates, I am in Canada and the owner of an 88 Euro e30 with an original M Tech II body kit on the car, two tone paint. I imported this car from Japan but its a Euro model and when the shipping company hooked up chains to the control arm  to get the car on and off the carrier, they cracked and flaked the paint in a very messed up way on the front apron.

I have to repaint it and looked high and low for the paint code for this kit with no luck. I called BMW dealerships, no go.

The guy at the paint store was honest, he said though they have a modern high end paint scanner, the mixed paint is only 90% accurate and I might see a subtle difference between the bumper and apron if I scan the paint and painted the apron. He warned me about people claiming to mix it exact without the code.

He strongly suggest I get the paint code and since I do not want to paint the entire kit I am desperately trying to get the paint code.

If any of you guys have an e30 with the same original kit and paint, know the code, please let me know, I have attached a few pics for reference.

Asking on here is never going to be a reliable way of finding the exact paint code, as the paint codes have different shades. Is the 2 tone paintwork even original?

If it left BMW that way, then they would be your best place to ask.

Just looking at it from the pics, I would have said it was granite grey.

nogaro is paint code 243
granite is paint code 237
its hard to say without seeing the car in the flesh but id say nogaro!
a decent auto paint shop should be able to mix and tint to match!
