Nope but I cained a 328 compact on throttle bodies at a recent track day, although the owner was complaining it wasn't running right. :P

Both on identicle slicks as well.

nope, but theyre supposed to be a nice drive.

don't really like the e46 compact though. hate the looks, and theyre just a bit too grown up for me. would love to try a 325 or 328 engined e36 compact though.

could by a tidy 318ti, and a mechanically good e36 m3, and combine the 2 for less than decent e46 325tis go for, and i definately know which appeals more to me winkeye
cheers,

harry

I've driven the mtech version, nice and smooth to drive and quite quick too!

Yep took 1 out down in southhampton about 8 months ago. It was an m-tech version though. If you like the styling they are a nice car. Nice and quick. I was deciding between that and a 330Ci and chose the latter. compact feels like it is - smaller and lighter but not as powerful as a 3.0

I used to have a E46 325ti, was a really good car. They have a good m54 engine, reliable and handle quite well too. I took mine around the ring ( totally standard ) and it did sub ten min lap. Nice and refined and good on fuel if driven carefully too. Can pick them up for a decent price now, i do miss my old one a bit :( . Here is a pic of it.

I hated them when I first saw them. They're growing on me though, I think I'd possibly even prefer an E36 compact over a coupé...
Not in E30s any more :(
