Hi,
Could anyone here, please just do a quick bullet point style, list of the things I need to do and any things I might encounter, while swapping an old subframe for new?

So far I have...

Undone/removed inner balljoints from subframe
undone/removed outer BJ's from shock
undone steering arms

So next...
undo engine mounts, and support engine with trolley jack and wood.
undo bolts holding on steering rack and support,it is PAS.
undo 4 main bolts holding subframe to chassis.
remove subframe

Replace is the reverse???

Sorry if I've answered all my own questions, but if anyone has more advice,as this is pretty much the biggest job ive done.

Thanks

Hi tommy,

I swapped my sub frame out a few weeks ago.

The only thing you've not mentioned is removing the antirollbar drop links from the suspension arm.

I didn't have to split the outer ball joints. With the inner ball joint, and the lolly pop removed - you can swing the arm clear of the subframe.

If you can, have a think about supporting the engine from above.

I had my engine supported on a trolley jack (with a bit of wood), and it didn't move. I did borrow an engine stand ... just in case.

Good luck with the swap, ... It's one of those jobs that appear harder than it actually is.

Craig.

Thanks...have also removed antiroll bar from control arms,so thanks. And have spare axle stands too...Good idea.

I'm sorry if I asked stupid questions ,but I agree "It's one of those jobs that appear harder than it actually is"
I suppose I needed someone to confirm that before I started.
