Painting rocker cover and inlet manifold?

What do I need to paint it?

Does Wilko supply the right paint?

Is a it a hard job to spray and remove the rocker cover and inlet manifold?

a tin of primer and satin black will do the job, and sand paper of course (dont ask what type )

its just a case of unbolting it off respraying and refitting.

might be worth changing gaskets too when you put them back on

The inlet is a cow to paint even when it's removed. Don't attempt it on the car. Ensure you clean the parts thoughroly with Cellulose thinners.

I've never primed one yet. The last thing you want is too much build up of paint. As long as to clean the parts well as above, the surface has enough key for the paint. Pointless rubbing it down unless you want a babies arse type finish which even the original alpina parts wearnt.

I've done numerous (I've lost count) of these. Heres a couple of mine.

Oh And Halfrauds paint is fine, infact I've yet to find better rattle cans for the job.

+1 i recon that colour would look good on my IS's rocker cover

Sorry. I mixed it myself. I had a photo of Si's c2.7 engine pinned to the wall and mixed the paint to how it looked in the photo. However it's a lot lighter than it should be. I was aiming for the Alpina grey.

I may keep them the same when I build the C2 conversion as I really like how it looks in the engine bay. But then I may go darker to replicate the original Alpina colour. Hav'nt decided yet.
