Decent 6.5" Speakers

Can anyone recommend some decent 6.5" 17cm speakers that sound clear and produce good bass

also if i want really low down clear punchy bass (but not really loud) would it be the amp that does this or would it be the quality of the sub or both

still undecided wether to put sub in what do you recon

Problem is for good base you either need 6x9 or subs, my advice get subs i have 2 x 4000w subs at 2500rms and they give a clear sound when coupled with my 13cm alpines as the boot is pritty much a self contained unit unless you put tubes through the ski hole you need power lol but well worth it and if you open the boot car alarms go off left right and centre

ive got a sub but it was only 39.99 and the sub box was only 20 quid or summin aswell so its not the best

whats the RMS of the sub? as this is the true power not the "watts" and also what amp would you be looking at?

but put it this way if i jack my system i can get a back massarge and sounds so good almost perfect audio

I'll recommend you three.

- will give a fairly meaty but not overpowerful bass, with crisp highs and a decent amount of power in the mid range. The cheapest option, should be fine, if you don't mind it being called KFC.

- loud. The bass will have a lot of clarity, 12KHz+ sound will be present but not too intense and headache-inducing, which is especially good for vocals, and mid range will sound richer in this set than in the other two. Again, loud.

- my personal choice. Very agile flatter cone will do well even at high outputs, providing a high quality even balance of sound across the EQ bands. Not as bassy as the Kenwoods and not as punchy'n'sparkly as the InPhase, but will give a good response to the sound settings of your head unit.

You seem like you know your stuff too.

Alex, it'd be a good idea to get a subwoofer, or use the one you have, and put the amp unit close to hand, so that you can adjust the volume of the bass. I have the bass control on the dashboard, beside the hazard lights button.

well ive got some decent infinity 5010cs components for the front so thats the front sorted but unsure about rear

ive got some cheap kenwood 6x9s some cheap 17" speakers and the sub above but there all fairly budget

ooh not great but would be ok what head unit are you running? as this will be the key.

As with my system you can control the sub with head unit etc etc and can control the input level on the treble and base

however with that level of rms just thinking about it face the sub towards the back seats and put a whole through the ski hatch to the car and will give you what you need however may beable to source some subs for a very lo cost for you

i read in another thread that hertz speakers are good so might invest in some 17cm ones for rear shelf

with a sub sound quality so to speak is not what your looking at as the quality is your mids and highs but base is juat an octave (i spelt it how it sounds) so as for quality you wont loose any.

Your head unit isnt bad and will suit your needs

But like i say you will need a hole with tube in ski hole to get the base you are after

i would be more tempted to take the ski hatch out and mount them on mdf facing into cabin
